Forums - Microsoft - No price drop? Does Microsoft think Sony is a joke?

I don't think we can rely on this site's numbers for anything other than North America and that's after we get confirmation of the numbers during the middle of the month. I'm not trying to bash this site but the numbers can change drastically from one week to the next (hundreds of thousands of sales disappear, etc). The 360's numbers were reduced so it's at 10.06 again. It's just predictions that can be off by 20-30% or more at times that are the problem.

That may be true, but it honestly just sounds more like an excuse after the fact to help Sony fans convince themselves the PS3 is doing better than what it really is.

She may have been going by the old European numbers that were on this site. They showed the 360 beating the PS3 in Europe but apparently ioi or someone else updated them and now they're the complete opposite.

yes, an allarming 24k PS3 vs 20k X360 per week instead of 20k PS3 vs 22k x360...in less than 500 (FIVE HUNDREDS) weeks PS3 will reach X360...X360 definitely urges a price drop in the next 2 weeks.

2008 year end sales (made in January 2008):

44.2 M 27.1 M 20.8 M

so if this site is wrong what is the credible source to the contrary?

Anywhere other than that site you get your icons from... Seriously, the past two I could swear are from anime porn with the naughty bits cut out... but just enough that you still know.

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

But worldwide the 360 is selling much better.

Nice fud, why dont you prove it. Last i read they were almost dead even for 2007

Ms is just giving away their lead, no clue wtf is wrong with them. Maybe they think Halo is unstopable, probably they do.

literally 3 clicks away:

http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=Wii&reg1=All&cons2=PS3&reg2=All&cons3=X360&reg3=All&weekly=1

or more importantly, and only 1 click away:

http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=Wii&reg1=All&cons2=PS3&reg2=All&cons3=X360&reg3=All

Honestly, you're an idiot. You're on a Video Games Sales website and can't find proof that the 360 is selling better? Worldwide, the 360 is performing better than the PS3 in all concievable metrics. Just own up to it.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Perhaps MS didn't drop their price because they suspected the Sony's price drop was temporary.

My 360 can blog!

Gamers have 3 choices this generation: The Exercise Machine, the Movie Machine, or the Game Machine.  What kind of gamer are you?

Sigh. Lets compare actual 360 vs. PS3 current numbers, for the past 3 weeks. Sound good?

Okay, so the 360 outsold the PS3 by just under 30,000 units in 3 weeks, or an average of 10,000 units, or around 17.5% more units per week, on average. I fail to see how this is good for the PS3. On the same note, X360 sales aren't good either, but by comparison, the PS3 has been out less time, and should be selling slightly more, due to European sales, since it launched recently there.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I think the price drop will come once they iron out the reliability issue. No point in selling more defective consoles. They are costing them a lot of money right now especially with the warranty extension and the fact remains that the 360 is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I wouldnt be surprised if they were forced to recall them all and I am sure MS knows that its a possibility. I am sure they wanted to drop the price but they have other issues to consider.

Do you want more people to buy a defective console and never trust your brand again?
What will the costs be for selling the current console with the new warranty given their breakage rate?
Are they facing a lawsuit that may call for a recall (I imagine they must be else the warranty wouldnt have been extended)?

Furthermore, a price drop will have a much more powerful effect during the holidays anyway. If MS can get a new console out before then and drop the price it will probably bury the PS3 in America.

Notice MS didn't announce pricing for the Halo 3 console. I think that they will drop the price when they announce Halo 3 console pricing just in time for Halo 3, GTA IV, Mass Effect, and the holiday season.

Announcing a price drop now is usesless when everyone is vacationing and sales are generally slower for all consoles. Also, a price drop now in the face of the RRoD and Sony drop looks like they are reacting. If they wait and couple it with Halo 3 console launch it looks more proactive.
