Just a couple of points with links coming up later but some things that were cleared up in a newer interview.

  • Assuring everyone there is NO SPLITSCREEN the quote that everyone took to mean there was splitscreen was used out of context.
  • With their engine and grpahics pushing the Wii like it is splitscreen is impossible as it's too taxing on the power of the Wii, which could hurt chances of splitscreen in The Conduit 2.
  • The lead designer contradicted the original word about the Quantum 3 engine, which stated the engine would be licensed out as middleware and would help developers with graphics, the lead designer stated "we're no middleware company and have no plans to license out the engine at this time"  though they have said people have contacted them to license the engine.  Hopefully that may be a miscommunication with different parts of the studio or just his opinion cause that would be a great help to Wii development for third parties and a way to help kill shovelware.

It should be possible for them to make Conduit (or Conduit 2) have splitscreen. They just have to make their engine scaleable so that they can drop down the detail.

But because they have limited time and manpower, they're focusing their tech development on getting as much detail out of the hardware as they can, rather than developing scaleability for splitscreen. It's just a question of priorities.

So if Conduit sells well and people keep clamoring for splitscreen, I think we might see it in Conduit 2.

That's true, really hope they are able to scale it for splitscreen, but in the interview they basically said it 100% wouldn't happen in this game, but if they do like they did with this game with the Conduit 2 then they might just try to get more out of the Wii graphically again and not focus on scaling the engine again... it's just a thought but it doesn't seem to be a focus of theirs, and personally wireless lan > splitscreen anyway, the only thing I really could want splitscreen is for team deathmatch with wireless lan, say 2 vs 2 on a small map have 2 TVs and both teams get their own and can help each other more.

This game is going to not do alot of stuff that we might want, it's going to be a first instalment of a series, building upon this game they will be able to do more with the sequels and most likely even improve graphics.

I just think it's amazing what they've already done with 30 people in 12 months. It really speaks to how lazy/cheap/inept most third parties working on the Wii are.

Personally, I've been skeptical against this game since I first saw it. On a personal level, that is. I can without a doubt see that the game has gotten a lot of work put into it and I'm positive it's going to be a wonderful game. I really, really hope it does well and thus shatters the myth of third parties having no place on the Wii. However, on a pesonal level, I'm not very interested in the game at all. I loved Half-Life, and I agree that this game seems to have a very similar feel to Half-Life, but I just can't really get excited for this game.

Once the release date gets closer, I might convince myself to buy it. Let's just hope they deliver enough to impress me on a personal level as well.

Very good thread! But one question; is the game featuring a sniper/rail gun type of weapon? I guess it's very likely that there is a sniper, but I've never actually seen it in a footage.. So I would just like to know if anyone KNOWS if the game has a sniper weapon? = p

The sniper rifle in this game is the strike rifle an alien weapon, check out the first page the first picture is zoomed out, and the second is zoomed in on the same area, thats the strike rifle.

New image and link posted, just right click image and say view image, cause it's basically impossible to read the fine print. It gives info about part of the story.

WTF Maxwell? Is that the only sniper they have? That's just an automatic weapon with a scope, fgs.

My interest in this game just got lower :I

There might be another sniper rifle, but that's the only rifle revealed so far so take what you can get =P. But really I'm sure there's a lot more, just let them take their time with revealing information, and as it comes up I'll update everything here.
