That varies from state to state, and possibly city to city. I assure you that here you can get a ticket for going even 1 MPH over the speed limit. I have seen it.

 Secondly people going slightly slower will not increase the amount of traffic significantly. The reason traffic occurs is people have to slow down excessively to allow people to change lanes or enter a lane. This is caused by people not allowing enough space for a car to get into the lane. If less people tail-gated trying to cause other to speed up traffic would be reduced massively.

 Thirdly your example is entirely out of context. The reason you are not allowed to go below a certain speed on interstates is because it is dangerous to go that much slower than the traffic around you. The only good reason to increase a speed limit is because people will break the law anyways and create an excessively dangerous situation for those people who are obeying the law. Going too slow on its own has absolutely no ill effects. You might notice that humans walk at an average speed of less than 5 MPH and there is no record of this causing a massive casualties anytime in history. Please try to be at least half-informed on what you are talking about before trying to sound smart,

@Gnizmo-Cluttering up the mod board isn't a concern since you would just clog up whatever button we gave you to play with. Yeah honestly, it wouldn't make the mods' lives any easier, and that would be the point of this to happen, so thus...it has no point. You would still need to give a statement since there are mutliple reasons to report a sig, not just length.

If I ever get a message for my current sig or any other sig I'll leave this site for good. I understand if its too long in both LxW but just because you dont want lots of pics doesnt matter.
They should be able to put w/e they want on the sig as long as its not offensive or breaks the limit.

 Perhaps next time you will try reading the post before mashing out a response. I have only ever complained about overly long sigs since that is the only thing officially against the rules.

What else is there to report in a signature? I mean links to kiddy porn or what have you I suppose, but I have been told in the past even people who were obviously trolling in their signature could get away with it.

Well actually, i'd probably just notify the FBI if there was kiddy porn in someone's signature. All porn or links to porn are to be reported. Unauthorized quotes from fellow members can be reported. Trash talking members in sigs can be reported. There are multiple reasons to report a sig, thus there needs to be at least a brief explanation on what you're reporting. Therefore, the button function would be useless. Plus it would just give us multiple areas to have to look for reports instead of just one. Next someone will ask us to have a seperate button for trolling as opposed to name-calling.

 Actually the inspiration hit when I realized it would be a way for mods to just ignore most of my reports oddly. I can't imagine anything more annoying than logging into 20-30 reports from me on various peoples signatures (possibly including the mod checking) and then having people bitch about you not dealing with the 3 reports of trolling buried in there. I don't know how the queue is set-up though so it is easily possible that this wouldn't ever be an issue. It hadn't occured to me until you pointed it out that it would require more effort on the part of those enforcing the rules.

Quite honestly after the first no I was satisfied that it wouldn't happen. I figured it was a long shot at best but it was worth asking in hopes of raising people's awareness of their over sized signatures. Unless it was a trivial code change, or someone was absolutely desperate to add a new feature and couldn't think of one this idea was simply never going to fly.

Well... IDK where you live, but here in Texas, you have a 5 mph leeway. Most accidents in my area are caused by people zipping around the people who go too slow (which is wrong no matter how you look at it). If everyone is going 43, and you're going 38, there WILL be a problem.

BTW, I'm NOT talking about going SLOWER INDIVIDUALLY ON THE INTERSTATES. They Increased the overall speed limits because a 5-year study found that when drivers go below a certain speed (I think it was 65-75) on a highway, (and 80 on some roads, if I remember correctly) you cause more traffic. and more accidents occur. It is also one of the reasons why the 55 MPH federal limit was repealed. Please clarify about what someone is talking about before you just assume you know what they are talking about and make an unrelted argument in an attempt to make yourself sound smarter.
