Forums - General - What do you think is the best OS?

Windows.

I didn't like Linux and Mac OS X is alright.

You, sir, are a wordsmith of genius proportions.

I have only ever used windows and it works fine for me.

I don't like OS much.

Not fully maximizing is the suxxorz. And yes, top left minimizing and such sucks. it looks much more slick when you minimize it when the window goes all wavy and such.

And as someone else said, whenever I use mac, I feel like I'm forcing it to do something.

Also, the lack of a right button makes me hurl. I need my right button to copy paste, forget all the ctrl v or whatever.

Congratulations. Before complaining about an OS, you should probably use a computer newer than seven years old. Macs have full maximization (click the red + twice) and have been standard issue with a two button mouse for nearly half a decade now (not to mention they've supported two button mice for over a decade now).

Is that limited to iMacs or US versions, because my brother's MacBook is only a couple of years old and only has one mouse button.

I used to hate windows (xp) but now I have been using it for a while. It is not as bad as it was few years ago. :) Ubuntu is still the best.

Well... Macbooks don't usually come with a mouse.. but he probably has the Mighty Mouse.. which looks like 1 button but actually has 2 beneath it.. if you click on the left side it's the left mouse button and clicking on the right side is the right button..

OT: Mac osX, way better suited for graphic design..

Tispower, the Macbook has one physical button but if you use two fingers on the pad, it acts as a right click. Pretty slick, actually.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

I have used the following OS's

MS-Dos 3.3 and 6

Windows 3.0 - XP SP3

Commodore Basic with GEOS

TI Basic

GWBASIC and QBASIC (not really OS's but worth mentioning)

Mac OS 7.1 and 7.5

Ubuntu Linux and a Live CD called Slax Linux

Out of all of them the only ones I loved were Commodore Basic, MS-Dos 6, Windows 95, and Windows XP. (although Windows ME still haunts me to this day, Geez How I loath it)

Mac is too propritary for their own good (although that has changed some recently), may give them a try in the future if i have $600 for a mac mini. I did have an old Mac laptop that crashed after a month and since I didn't have an OS disk, it was garbage. (So i sort of feel burned cuz of that, so may not get a mac someday, I mean come on it crashes and you can't even get a command line to fix anything)

And Ubuntu just plain doesn't have enough driver support, plus installing any drivers takes waaay too long, usually doesn't work... so no for me on Linux Distros

And I do agree with most of you that Office 07 sucks royally in so many ways.

Linux is the best os... runs on the most hardware, free to use, and can 'do it all'.
