Why do u guys think the price cut wont be that big?

The Arcade is a ridiculously gimped model, even at $199.

It can play games, go online... What more do you want? I use an Arcade and its great.

What more can I want? Being able to download stuff from Live and being able to install games to reduce loading times.

Done, and come the new update, done. An added hard drive would be an awesome addition to Arcade though.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

My anecdotal evidence is amazon.com, and the 360 isn't doing all that great there.

OH YEAH! I SO WENT THERE.

(and screw them seals)

But honestly, for a world changing, console war ending price drop this is supposed to be its sure starting out with a bit of a fizzle isn't it? I was expecting something that secures the 360's place in second forever to at least get 1 sku in the top 10 on amazon.

I guess were going to go from the immediately outselling everything including the Wii in America expectations to the slow gradual increase because parents love the console because of the price and buy it in boatloads expectations huh?

It hasn't even been advertised to the general public yet. Wait till the Sunday paper comes out. Why would you even think that it would sell more than a Wii?

Sunday is when most major retailers are having the price drop sales. We'll need 1-2 weeks to see what kind've impact it had.

Pachter has said that it would increase 360 sales by 20 or 30%.......simexchange.com has the consensus predictions that the PS3 will be back to selling90% as much as the 360 by the end of october, so most people think that while sales will go up for a while, this won't be anything great for MS.

It's not gimped, It's just stripped down. If you want gimped, every PS3 made after the 60 gig is gimped. You can never get your PS3 to have all the features that a 60 gig has. On the other hand you can make a Core into a Pro. That's the only reason why I bought my PS3 so early, to get a 60 gig. I would have waited till FFXIII came out to buy one.

However, I do feel that the Arcade doesn't look too appealing to buy compared to a Pro.

It will certainly have a weekly effect, however the big impact should be this holiday season. When people go out Christmas shopping they're going to know the 360 is down to $200 and it will have a nice lineup of new holiday releases to back it up.

I'd expect to see a big boost 70% next week then a drop off to maybe an extra 10k a week in the US but significantly higher sales levels in the US as compared to the PS3 (I'm not sure with the current shape of the economy that we'll see numbers comparable to the holidays last year.

I'll hang on a bit till they give 'em away for free, or perhaps even pay me to take one. Despite cutting prices every couple of months 360 sales are mediocre and increasingly being outsold by all other consoles. As they say, a rushed (flawed?) product always eventually gets its cumuppance.

I agree with slimeattack, PS3 will overtake 360 next year.

I think you are confusing Xbox 360 with PS3.  It's the PS3 that have the price cut every other months last year.

This is the 2nd price cut 360 have since launch.  First one was $50.00 and this one is another $50.00 (well $80.00 for the arcade because MS want to get to that $199.99 mark.

I just find it funny that eveyone was saying how MS is slow to cut price but when they do all Sony fanbot such as you saying that MS is desperate.

They are selling way above what PS3 was selling last year.  The only thing change this year is PS3 is finally doing better and start doing 360 number (which it should by now).

It would have to outsell the Wii in America to tie th PS3 WW. I dont want to wait for the ads, because I have a good feelings that after that happens ill be shut up, lol. Can't I have my moment of bashing and baby seal clubbing before the wave starts? Jeeze

Well, PS3 only had one price cut last October. The 'price cut' in July was to get rid of the 60GB PS3s in order to make room for the new 80GB PS3s, and if you're going to count that as a price cut then don't forget that the Xbox360 had the same exact situation last month with the price cut on the 20GB Xbox360s.

On topic, I think the price cut will have a short-term effect but because of holiday boost sales will stay high until the end of the year. I don't expect Xbox360 sales to be much higher than last year, but there's a very good chance that it may do better than it did last Christmas.
