Forums - Nintendo - How many of you are dissapointed by Nintendo?

i agree with what a lot of what you guys are saying. overall, theres little reason to be disapointed about nintendo, but in this dry period right now, theres a bit to be disapointed about. since brawl i havn't purchased once Wii game, though I know there are a bit to come, I have a list of games I want between now and March-April, and there are quite a few.

well i gota go, class awaits..

I'm very disapointed. Zelda, Metroid, Mario were good. But i think they could be way better with a normal controller. The Wii-mote isn't perfect and should be way better. The games I play the most are SSBB (GC-controller), MK (GC-controller), Naruto Clash of Ninja Revulotion (GC-Controller) and Okami. The best games with Wii-mote contols are Okami and Boom Blox. The others suck really hard or less hard... I'm still waiting for the perfect multiplayer/singleplayer shooter for the Wii. Red Steel was good but not perfect. And I think that many more feel the same way and all want a Wii 2 (or a better name) with better controls. But that's just my opinion..

I disagree, here. Most publishers  didn't bother to develop seriously for the Wii until the Wii success exploded.

And when they did, they saw no more success than games of low quality.

Strange i despise playing Fisrt Person Shooter with dual stick control scheme on console pad while I'm enjoying the nunchuck + wiimote setup. BTW seems alot consumers see some strenght on Wii software. Sales doesn't lie ( I mean software sales ).

Thats good. But the other consoles had made far greater improvements in the genre with actual gameplay changes. Software sales don't lie. In order for software sales to lie, it would have to be a conscious entity. It is not, and hence it cannot lie.

If you are trying to imply that more sales means more quality, well this would certainly be no more than speculation at best. McDonalds is no more the best food for selling more than Wii software is for selling more.

The implementation of the control scheme in Galaxy is simply brilliant. The prove is that many dosn't feel it because it was implemented very cleverly.

You are trying to put words in my mouth now. I clearly stated that I did feel the controls. I also felt that it was unnecessary and would have benefitted more from processing power. I didn't like the shooting mechanic or waggling the remote to boost. The only decent thing was shooting myself like a slingshot but it wasn't anything brilliant.

Uh I thought that in mid 2008 everyone know that TP on Wii is a Gamecube porting.

Dead Rising:CTYD is also a port... there are clear differences in gameplay ability when the hardware is significantly stronger.

Well I found MP3 control scheme one of the best . The wiimote did not contribute to the gameplay so much ? What have you played  ?

I played MP3 100% and it felt like they put in a Wii mote on a gamecube game. The "gunship" gameplay was highly disappointing as I didn't want just pre-determined cutscenes that passes off as gaming (this has been an annoying trend since the popularity of GoW). I am no slouch with analog sticks but even if I was, the system was based on auto-aiming like in crackdown. I would have much preferred standard controls if it meant I could have things like:

-Real access to the ship

-Real interactive combat involving the ship

-More opened up environments

-More exploration abilities and detailed environments

-More involving scans (so much could have been done with this...)

-More compelling NPCs and story(some of the most dead boring NPCs I have seen in a game)

-Prettier graphics all around

Having a Wii Mote on basically what is the same game didn't in anyway feel like a good trade-off for what a better processor could have done.

Yeah Wiimote serves only for steer. Surely an optional function in a racing game. Ironically MK ( like many Nintendo franchise ) has hit an evolution stall. More power isn't the answer. Relearn a control scheme in the other hand is an interesting approach for the seasoned MK players ( ask Rol ).

I relearn control schemes all the time. This has nothing to do with it. More power actually can do a lot for the series if you have any imagination for it. I have no issues with learning things like inward drifting as opposed to the tradional gameplay. This does not change the fact that more could have been done with the game. MKWii is also the only game I would truly mark down for graphics because it did look surprisingly subpar compared to the other Nintendo games for whatever reason.

No, I claim that Wiimote is useful for the lower tiers because it is generall more accessible than classic control pad. While is appreciated by coregamers that felt getting bored the last generation ( Drift gamers, I'm one of them)

True that it is more accessable. I agree with this point. I don't find it particularly responsive enough for many games but it can still be fun. I prefer a traditional controller still to be honest.

WiiPlay aim is to be  a tutorial software for brandnew users.

This misses my point. Which is that there is a false notion that having a hardware innovation > software innovation(which is kinda produced by having hardware but you know what I mean...)

I think those games are simply fun. Sales don't lie.

They are simply fun, yes. Sales don't lie, yes. Superior or more innovative because of sales or Wii Mote? No.

Kororinpa did so bad that we get Kororinpa 2 in a few months. EA said it was pleased by Boom Blox sales. Zak & Wiki is a niche game unfortunatly ( and share with Boom Blox a wrong target demographic mentality IMO ). We'll see again the elebits run on Wii. RE UC is an outsourced game made by Cavia ( a third string developer ). Only now we start see a true effort by third-party on Wii.

I think you kinda moved where the point was going. Kororinpa might get a sequel but thats not saying its doing better than inferior games. Boom Blox did just ok. I guess I just somewhat fell into the uneducated demographic myself a little with the RE:UC thing  But this actually shows that a lot of other people will also buy it for just the name. As soon as I see RE, I think its made or published by Capcom.

We saw this effort awhile ago. Games like these just didn't do all that well. Neither did NMH's (even though I think that game is as shallow as it gets) and low quality games selling well to contrast this just doesn't put faith into companies (especially ones like EA) to invest lots of money into making Wii games.

What would you like them to do really? Traditional games usually benefit more from better processing power (such as Dead Rising, Alone in the Dark, Spider Man 3, Gears of War) and a lot of the appeal that those tradional games have on other consoles would look pretty weak in comparison on the Wii. Whats the incentive to make the tradional Wii game when they know they will sell more on the 360 and make a better game?

On the other hand, games that really utilize the remote are tagged as niche or uncategorizable. So we end up with just a bunch of small titles that are interesting but not blockbusters.

I am really responding to the TC really who is asking why people might be disappointed(and certainly not everyone is). I am just listing my own personal reasons. The Wii says they have good gameplay and innovation but the innovation and gameplay is really geared towards low tier gamers who generally want about as much depth in a game as a John Woo film.

Where is the advantages in meatier games? XBLA has made probably some of the better niche and small title games and they didn't need a new control scheme or lower specs to do it.

Btw, I am sorry I don't know how to unbold my last paragraphs... very new to forums >.> Glad to have heard your thoughts on it.

Bolded.

If you ask me, ninty's fall line-up is pretty disappointing compared to Sony and M$. My little brother has a wii and the only game that I could buy for him this fall is COD5 but then I have a ps3 and he'll be much better off playing the game there.

He is promoting the 360 in a Nintendo thread. This takes a lot of FUD and lies, so naturally it leads to a long post.

Sorry if I give off this impression. I personally don't really like most of the half witted comments that get passed off as actual arguments (kinda like the one above) on these forums. Better to be long and have a point then to be short and pointless, for me anyways.

I am very, very disappointed.

im disappointed with what u all casual gamers dont care about.. and that is retro gaming.. VC is too over priced which made me go back to emulation or piracy.. sorry i cant buy a game i owned 2 times for more then 5$
i was expecting some online on the old games or atleast paying monthly like game tap. There VC service is crappy and very over priced, and this shows that they dont care about hardcore retro gamers

No you go back to emulation because you want it

thats not true ! :(

but VC is emulation anyways ! o.-"

and there are emulators that already work online ! and all emulators come with customizble controls !

i really felt ripped off when i bought star fox 64 for my wii.. it was unplayable...

I'm only disappointed by the CONTINUED LACK OF A HARDDRIVE.

MAN! What a list. That's more games than I heard of. But I'm not surprised. It was just a matter of time before the wii got some serious third party support. I just wonder what will be the next knock on the wii by nintendo haters. It won't be games much longer. At this rate it will have more third party support than the PS3 and 360 combined.
