Forums - Nintendo - How many of you are dissapointed by Nintendo?

I have very little to be disappointed in about them. Their performance in pulling off a Blue Ocean Strategy is near-flawless. Their turning around the success of the DS was also a sight to behold. Quite an inspiration for would-be entrepreneurs, and a good example for them too.

Oh, and they make great games and have fun systems out on the market. So those are nice side benefits, too.

I always laugh at people who think something is impossible to do well in video game form just because it makes no sense or is otherwise impractical from a direct perspective. No obstacle is insurmountable. I mean jeez, have you heard the inspiration for some of Miyamoto's most famous games? Any idea can be made into gaming gold, you just have to be creative enough to find a way past the barriers to success.

Then again, it does require a totally different train of thought to solve problems than it does to identify them...

It would be really interesting to see if Treasure would try to make such a game. Hm...

 They only make fun games.

Shaking random people to obtain diamonds wasn't that fun, although I still played the game until I finished it.

It is sad how some people are completely unable to appreciate the most amazing game experiences ever. I guess you will just have to enjoy your lesser games and let the true connoisseurs enjoy the absolute best titles of the generation.

I don't think it would be impossible to make a 1:1 sword fighting game that is fun. I think what most (internet) people want out of the game is not going to be a terrible lot of fun. This mostly stems from the fact that the game still won't be very accurate at all with only Wiimotion+. So long as my arm is not capable of being stopped when the sword is blocked there will be a huge problem with attempting to make it 1:1 motion. I am extremely intrigued by Wii Sports: Resort just to see what Nintendo's solution to the problem is, although I think I already know it.

I was, about 10 years ago when i went to buy a Gamecube (played luigi's mansion, nah). I didn't, so i was going to buy a PS2. I didn't, so i bought a dvd player and became an adult.

How fukn boring is that. The Wii is is pretty amazing, yes i want better graphics, more innovation and maturity in titles and widespread acknowledgement that casual and hardcore are actually the same damn thing. Nintendo got me back and that isn't dissapointing

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Then let us be thankful that most people on the internet don't design games. Only a poor game designer makes a game around an idea without refining it to be as fun as possible. To that end, I notice that Nintendo is far from poor; most of the stuff people online bitch about in their recent games were done entirely on purpose to make the game fun instead of realistic.  Real life isn't fun, after all. That's why we play video games. Funny how some people forget that, isn't it? Maybe they've played video games so long that video games are boring and real life is fun. What a twist that'd be.

Nintendo is mostly a joke now. They're no better than EA honestly.

I am thankful for that every day of my life. As I said in my first post, the big problem I have with the concept is it keeps getting thrown around as a way to put an ultra-realistic game on the one console I like because it isn't pushing that at all. And I don't know what real-life you are living but mine is plenty fun. It just takes a unique perspective and a great seanse of adventure.
