Sony Doesn't Seem Concerned By Xbox 360 Price Cuts

You might think that a significant price cut on the Xbox 360 front — giving Microsoft a sub $200 option in the U.S. — would have Sony Computer Entertainment employees in a panic, seeking the highest ledge from which to jump. Faced with an Xbox 360 that's cheaper than the Wii would normally drive one to the sweet embrace of Death. Not Sony, though! They're surprisingly powering through.

"We're quite confident our holiday sales will be good," Sony spokestypes tell Gamasutra. Touting Blu-ray playback and "the broadest and deepest software lineup in the industry," the corporate communications team at SCEA questions the long-term sustainability of the cuts.

What we're curious about is if anyone out there in Kotakuland has been holding out this long on the "next gen" purchase, opting to "jump in" and giving up on that PlayStation 3 purchase because of the price adjustment.


Why is it that I sooooo saw an article like this coming.....

I just had a feeling SONY wouldn't care one bit! XD

Not saying they should be, but what do you expect them to say they cant match the price cut due to the billions they have lost on the PS3

What did they expect them to do, have a large press conference the next day crying and pleading with MS to not do it?

Of course they are going to act like they don't care. Meanwhile their strategists are determining if they need to follow suit or just continue with their plans of not doing anything until after this fiscal year.

They are kicking butt in Others and they successfully survived a huge 360 price cut there this year ( 100 euros).
6 months after the 360 cut there, the PS3 almost outsells the 360 by 2:1 factor this week...

Sony wasn't concerned about the Wii either and we all know how that turned out...

Same think that I was thinking. If there is a sales difference in the US the will make it up PLUS possible extra in OTHERS, then cut price next year.

Sony won the console war and all was right in the world
