I don't think it will sell 23 million this year but I definitely think it will break 23 million this year.

M$ is running of fanboys(fanbase of xbox - 24 mln.).
Pricecuts will fail(see Europe).
Line up are repetetive(except those rpgs, but that won`t move much).
Stronger competitor this year - Sony PS3.

But i voted for 24 mln. =))

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Wow. Once again I'm getting backlash. I'm not assuming anything. I realize that 23.99 million can still be interpreted as 23 million. I'm not talking about the people that voted 24 million or 25 million. I'm talking about the people that voted 23 million.

Don't get me wrong Xen. I am not a 360 fanboy of any sort. I own all three systems, I just think that this is a very narrowminded prediction by many members of this site. I am not trying to rag on anybody, and I am not trying to start any sort of pissing contest, I'm just wondering what the logic behind these predictions are.

 

My logic is the PS3 overshadowing the 360 in Japan and Others, making the 360 sell mainly in the USA. The 360 is cheap in Europe - and still doesn't sell well... and no cuts are gonna help the system in Japan, just games (don't know how well IU does). I did screw up with my Wii predict though. Sorry for taking a swing at you.

 

You're logic (and 30% of the people polled) doesn't include basic math...

well, although I'm a PS3-fan I voted for 26million, because it seems the most realistic to me

Even though 26 million seems a bit much for me, I agree it will be higher than 23 or 24 million.

I voted for 22 million in the PS3 one and 26 million in the 360 one.

Generally people voted lower than both those, perhaps people on this site really don't understand the Christmas period.
