Screwing the customer???

Did you $ony fanboys forget the PS3 launch?

60 gig- 600$

20 gig - 500$

People still bought them only to be screwed several weeks later when the newer version came out

Then the 80 gig replaced the 60 gig and shed off a extra 100$ and the poor 20 gig owners got screwed cause they paid 100$ more and 50% less hard drive space than the 40 gig

Lmao who got screwed now?

If you want to try and flame a group of fanboys you could try doing the bare minimum of research. The launch systems were the best models. The only thing the 20gb really lacked was wireless ability but other than that it is in everyway superior to the 80 and 40 gb units save for mostly meaningless hard drive space. If you really wanted to try and start a flame war you would make some references to the diminished feature list of the PS3 rather than whatever non-sense you put together. I miss the good old days when trolls really went the extra mile to earn the slew of angry responses.

The launch systems were the best system in YOUR OPINION.

no they're the best sku's period.

Now just cause you stated your OPINION that means im wrong?

No they still were ripped off.

no , the fact that sony sold it with a loss, means that people were not ripped off.

Also it does not matter about the features,When MS lowered the Price of the 360 for the premium to 300$,people said that they were screwing the customer.

The best SKU in your OPINION,They were more expensive so people may of chosen the low end version.

MS Sold xbox 360 with a loss as well, infact there in the hole with 10 mill,So i guess that means the people we not ripped off?

I don't see why there would be desperation?

As is, MS are pretty much asured to pass 30M lifetime, which is a good score for a console and asures a decent interest by developpers.

The only reason MS drops the prices is to gain steam because their goal as they announced recently is to beat the PS3, and it's true that with Blue Ray the PS3 has a definitive advantage for a large crowd of people. End of life, if the 2 consoles are at the same price point, I doubt that anyone will choose a 360, exactly because of this, a free BR player, but with the price cuts, the Blue ray player comes at a $150 premium (there is the HD which I counted $50) and thus the price cut make absolute sense to do in a periode where sony has repetedly said they could not make one.

In the US XBox acceptance is evident so it will be effective.
In JP, the pace of Xbox has gone from 2k to 4k recently, the price cuts should put it at a PS3 sales level... and PS3 itself is not in a position where it can claim anything in JP.
In Europe they already had the drop (easier due to $ conversion) and sure it did not have all that much effect, but the market has always been said to be more PS friendly so it kinda makes sense.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoO

IMO it was much needed, once the PS3 overtakes the 360 install base Microsoft has very limited PR options left to persuade investors (and loudmouth fanboys spreading the gospel) the 360 is a wild success. The longer they can prolong this head start situation the better for their PR considering the Wii at similar entry pricing totally crushed 360 sales already. They have to significantly overtake XBox worldwide sales to demonstrate growth.

This price cut (despite hardware failure costs), the year or more head start, the premature death of the original XBox and the early release of major XBox sequels IMO all fit this strategy.

Taking equal time frames the PS3 sold 14.41 million units and the 360 11.60 million, this trend seems to have continued for the latest fiscal quarter. This all despite the PS3's higher entry pricing and most major anticipated titles yet to come.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

100% desperation. they cannot afford a price cut but are doing one anyway they they already have decent sales i really dont get it. probably because they are getting pwnd by the competition

desperation is avatars, casual game mimicry and price drops because they are not selling.

Theyre not selling, its pretty simple.

Thank god you aren't the CEO of any company with an attitude like that.

Its a shame you and obieslut can't be banned for your constant negativity and trolling with no basis most of the time...

Admittedly obieslut it less intelligent than you. ;)

Honestly I don't think it's either. I think it's them simply acknowledging the current situation and acting accordingly. I mean, despite the great games, awesome online, a price $50 below the lowest PS3 model (in the current crappy economic conditions), and the clearance sale, they still can't outsell the PS3 in their strongest territory. What else do you suggest they do? It's not desperation, it's reality.

 Absolutely!

Why was this thread created again...

I'm thinking of starting a thread titled...

"I haven't eaten for 2 days, am I desperate for food or am I hungry, am I not hungry but hiding it? Am I more hungry than thirsty?"

Can't fit all that in the title though....Whoa some people are an embarassment to the human race, let alone my country of good old UK.

Hope sony respond with a price cut. I wanna get my hands on a BC ps3 SKU if I can. Mine doesn´t have it... and I can´t give 499 on one.

neither, its just possible for them so they have.

No business drops the price because they can.  If MS was around 40k or more a week ahead of PS3 with a 6 Million lead I doubt you'd be seeing this price cut.

It's not desperation but it is a response to current 360 weekly trading vs PS3, which is has not been satisfactory for 360 for a while.

By your logic the Wii would be free by now as Nintendo must be able to afford to give them away by now.  Yet I notice that while Nintendo clearly could drop the price as its more than possible for them (given the core console has sold for a profit from the beginning unlike 360 and PS3) they haven't done so.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

It´s a mix of 'long overdue' and 'alert mode'.

its not desperation, its simply a tactic
