In all the generation's of video games has there ever been a time when a console was doing really bad at the beginning of the generation and was in last place but then all of a sudden start doing extremely well and got first?

Could this happen to the PS3?

Edit: What about any of the older consoles as far back as possible, was it always whoever has sold the most after the first couple years is basically going to win the generation or has there ever been an epic comback?

In other words has the underdog ever won the generation?

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

The DS didn't do all that great the first year. But the sales picked up a lot after the second holiday season. Much moreso than the PS3 has.

Which, considering the one is a €135 portable and the other is a €399 HD console is hardly surprising.

The DS also had a very nice redesign after the second holiday season too.

The PSP sales also picked up considerably after the redesign after it's second holiday season.  

I think he said console since the handhelds get redesigned more often.

 Now, I'm probably going to be flamed to shit for being wrong here, as I wasn't into video game stats and such at this time. But am I correct in saying that the PSP had a better launch experience than the DS, like, for the first couple of months?
