Forums - Sales Discussion - PS3 sold out at some stores?

It will be interesting to see the NPD data for July .

In any case ,it is clear that the PS3 at 499 is far better value that the Elite at 480 .Maybe people are coming to realize this .

from 13090 (Syracuse NY) in a 200 mile radius, all EB except 1 have stock. The majority have 4+ and a few have 1-3. The majority of the stores do NOT have "more on the way". So only 1 out of stock out of over 100 EB/GameStop.

Both CC and BB have stock in the Syracuse NY area and only 1 (Ithica NY) CC is out of stock. All other locations have stock.

From my analysis, the PS3 demand has not changed.

Yes, by going to GS/BB and CC websites it says they are either in stock or not, they don't tell you the exact number they have and how many they have sold do they? So, what qualifies you as being able to give a honest analysis?

I was just performing the sugested technique to see how it's doing across the country. EB actually has 3 ranges 4+, 1-3, and 0. Basically high stock, low stock, and no stock. BB and CC don't do that, they just say if its in stock. I also just stopped at walmart and they always have 3-5 in the case and that is it, same as always. Don't take me too serioiusly on my analysis, i was doing the sugested method.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Congratulations on making a completely pointless post.

The question being brought up here is not "How much is the PS3 selling?", it's "How available is the PS3 in stores?".  The answer appears to be "Extremely."

Plenty of PS3 at BestBuy here in Downers Grove, IL.
(And it's a hefty stack under the rack. I counted at least 10 on my way out)

Did not check on the price though.

Predictions For Last Full Week of Sales in 2010)

WII - 80.35 Million

360 - 43.88 Million

PS3 - 41.40 Million

More terrible predictions coming Jan. 2011!!!

"It is clear"?  That's news to me.   Just how is it so "clear" that the PS3 is better value than the Xbox 360 Elite?

Usually around the best buy by ma house there's around some 20-30 ps3's on the ground, but today I found the same stack with less ps3's not only that but I saw 1 guy buying the ps3 with a game, I think it was resistance, I just went there to buy ninja gaiden that game is hella tight!!

obviously people missed the post by leo-j to go to EBgames.com and type in your zip and we'll all do an analysis post

I really do expect a boost in sales from the price drop, but it probably won't be visible by just going to a store and looking since there are plenty of stock laying around, because there is to much stock and even a 100% increase in sales is still only 40,000 units. You might notice a store here and there that is out of stock, but for the most part you can probably still get one anywhere.

I just got back from Best Buy. I saw 4 on the shelf. One was gone within 10 minutes or so of me being there. I played Guitar Hero for about 30 min and left after browsing through the DVD's. There were still 3 left on the shelf when I left.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
