Everyone is entitled to their own list / opinion ;)

IMO - this list is crap.

Call of Duty 4? No Metroid or SSBB in the top 10? Killzone #1? Count me out...

SSBB not to be shown at E3.... have you been following the news? Also with all due respect, Metroid is a known quantity and isn't as big as a lot of those games on the list.

Killzone 2 is number 1 cause they wanna see if the actual game will look as good as the footage or not so there is really high interest in the game even by anti-Sony people.

Assassin's Creed is high because we've seen close to nothing on the game and everyone wants to see actual gameplay.

No, it's not PLAYABLE at E3, it's very much going to be shown. IMO the list is crap as well, and very one sided. SSBB is much more highly anticipated among the hardcore than SMG... it's obvious that was just thrown in there from someone who doesn't know what they are talking about as "some Wii game."

If it is going to be just the same stuff in trailer form why would there be anticipation for it? On the other hand, brand new playably Mario stuff is a big deal. Also for me Mario >>>> SSBB on every level.

Your levels of paranoia broke my paranoia meter...

Paranoia?  What would I have to be paranoid about?  It's not going to be the same stuff in the old trailers, it will be new trailers, with new characters, and possibly even an anouncement of online play.  Those anouncements are huge, and could completely blow away E3.  On the other hand, where did this interest in Killzone 2 come from in the first place?  Is it really just because some people don't know what a CGI video is?  There is no deserving hype behind this game.  It certainly won't be playable.

Come down wii owners, go pat your selfs on the back in the sales forum. Maybe after it will be easier for you to swallow that people just don't care that much about Nintendos games.

I think people need to understand why those games made the list and the ones some of the people are mentioning here didn't.

Take SSBB and Metroid Prime: 3 for example, what big surprises would people be anticipating for them? We've all see the screenshots of them and know what to expect, is anyone really anticipating any big surprises? A surprise playable character in SSBB? Is that enough for it to make a list with games that we've never seen playable before or that have a major thing about them that everyone is wondering about? No I didn't think so.

Bioshock and Mass Effect, I think it's safe to say everyone has seen the screenshots and trailers for them and it's not like there will be any shocking surprises for them either.

The same with Lair, Haze, and Heavenly Sword we've already seen trailers and screenshots and know what to expect. Does anyone expect anything more about them that we already haven't already learned?

I'm sure there are some people that're saying "But wait, Halo 3 made the list and it's the same old same old", true but nobody really knows what it looks like in single player and that's why it made the list. Super Mario Galaxy, well everyone is curious to see what affect it has on play mechanics to move the game's setting into space. Killzone? Nobody knows what it looks like now and everyone is waiting to see how it's turning out. Assassin's Creed, there hasn't been a playable demo and everyone wants to know if the game is a bust or not.

The only games I feel shouldn't have made the list are Uncharted because we already have more than enough information about it so there isn't any more surprises and Call of Duty 4 because even though there is some stuff we're not sure about it's probably not enough to justify putting it on the list.  I think Too Human should have been on it because we have no idea if it's going to be good or one of the biggest flops in gaming history.

So because the list isn't dominated by Nintendo titles (like the Top 10 games on this website), it is automatically bullshit? What other games are their besides Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime to look for anyways (Brawl does not count for those of you not paying attention)? Seriously, just quit whining.

Serious question though, is No More Heroes going to be at E3?

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Call of Duty 4 actually looks kind of cool even though I hate the series, so I can understand it being there even though I don't agree with it.

A few things in this post to comment on:

SSBB is promised to have a robust new single player mode that we have seen nothing of. If Halo 3's counts then so does Brawl's. Not to mention SSBB actually has a lot of major features not anounced (thanks to the beta we already know everything about Halo's multiplayer). Things like online, major character anouncements (Sonic for example) or amazing new trailers could easily be a big deal, especially considering this will be more than likely the best selling hardcore game on the Wii.

Things that shouldn't be on here: Uncharted, Call of Duty 4, Rock Band. Those 3 games I think are pretty worthless for anticipation. Killzone I'll accept (because for some reason the internet latched onto a CGI trailer...). Assasin's Creed should certainly be there. Metroid Prime I agree we already know most of so it shouldn't be. Here is what my list of estimated E3 information anticipation would look like:

1. GTA IV
2. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
3. Halo 3
4. MGS4
5. Mario Kart
6. Super Mario Galaxy
7. Killzone 2
8. Starcraft 2
9. Phantom Hourglass
10. Assasin's Creed

Please note: There aren't enough PS3 owners in the world for Killzone 2 to deserve anywhere near a top spot on anticipation. I'd say that list is a fair anticipation estimation given the general demographics, and the importance and sales of those games. MGS4 is probably a little high but I love MGS and I'm not dropping it >_>

I'm not saying it's bad because of a lack of Wii games specifically, it's just bad overall. The ratings are unrealistic and half the games included were horrible (CoD4... *throws up*).

Note: I edited it to add Halo back in, as I feel it really does deserve it's spot. Sticking with this final list.

I didn't read anything else but I'll state this:

If GTA, Halo, and SSBB don't round out the top three, that list is CRAP. Those WILL be the best-selling games this holiday season.

Starcraft is anticipated, but when is the last time a company shot for the moon in a multiplayer game and received long-term play on it? I expect both Halo and SC to fall a little flat in that regard, just like Counter-Strike did with Source. You can't recapture lightning in a bottle, no matter how hard you try.

And Assassin's Creed, Uncharted, etc? Yeah, I'm looking forward to every one of them but most anticipated? Are you joking me? While we're at it, let's just put Bioshock #1 even though I doubt it will sell more than 1.5m copies WW. I'm looking forward to it and therefore it should be #1.

BTW, am I the only one that thinks Naughty Dog should have gone to LucasArts to make Uncharted an Indiana Jones game? I love the style, I love the look of Uncharted, but boy OH HOT DAMN, if that was an Indiana Jones game, I would buy a PS3 for it.

"There aren't enough PS3 owners in the world for Killzone 2 to deserve anywhere near a top spot on anticipation."

What does number of consoles sold have to do with it? I don't own a PS3, I have no plans of ever buying a PS3, yet I am interested in seeing Killzone 2.

And if that is your criteria, considering E3 is an American event and the Entertainment Software Association is the trade association of the industry in the United States, why do you have Wii games over 360 games (maybe for E3 2008, but the 360 still has a 6.5m to 3.5m edge over the Wii)?

And considering the number of 360s, PS3s and PCs in America, why is Assassin's Creed way down at #10?

"I'm not saying it's bad because of a lack of Wii games specifically, it's just bad overall."

That's not the reason it's a bad list, specifically, yet you took it from 1/10 Nintendo to 4/10 Nintendo, leaving the other two consoles with 5/10.

"Note: I edited it to add Halo back in, as I feel it really does deserve it's spot. Sticking with this final list."

Wait, so was the previous tenth game also Nintendo, bringing Nintendo up to 5/10 (and the X360 down to 2/10, both multi-platform)? Yeah, there is just no anticipation surrounding 360 games...

I don't think it would take a Sherlock Holmes investigation to determine that you, naznatips, are NOT a 360 owner.

RolStoppable:
"The sales show that people care a lot about Nintendo games."

Do they? But if Nintendo console owners are casual gamers maybe they don't care about (and eagerly anticipate) events like E3 as much as other gamers?

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

the list isnt what is the most anticipated games, its a list of what the expect to be most talking about after. kz2 is by far the most important game of e3.

as far as ssbb love the games, but im not expecting anything from it at e3. its that thing that keeps some great games lower on the list.

Well, here's my take:

1. GTA IV (no doubt, anyone who argues with public consensus is a fool)

2. Halo 3 (I really believe this to be more anticipated than SSBB simply because of XBL and it being the end of the series)

3. SSBB (This game will sell by the boatload, too bad it's not multiplayer online, that might push it ahead of Halo)

4. MGS 4 (Kojima will release a brilliant trailer to entice everyone to salivate over a game he'll delay until holiday 2008)

5. Super Mario Galaxy (I have the feeling Myamoto will wow everyone with this game)

6. Lost Odyssey (I think, due to its near release, will steal a bit of FF thunder)

7. FFXIII (Another great CG trailer, another great game we'll see whenever SE gets around to releasing it)

8. Starcraft II (Still a bit away, I don't see a lot of hype for this game right now unless you live in South Korea)

9. Metroid: Prime (I still don't see this game selling that well, it just isn't the Wii audience)

10. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune/Bioshock (I'll split these because of the groundswell around Bioshock and the great footage we've seen of Uncharted)

I left out DS/PSP games and stuck to console offerings. Those, based on general consumer reaction (not fanboys), are the way I see it playing out. Lair may be great (despite initial reviews of the beta), as may be Heavenly Sword. But after seeing games like Uncharted and Bioshock in action, it's hard to say that those will be topped. They may be niche games but I think they'll both exceed expectations in the general audience.

And yes, it's intentional that I left out Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and others. They'll sell well but I don't see them that eagerly anticipated. Just my opinion.
