Nice, it looks clearer. Better for movies.

I can see the difference in the screens. Though, I don't see why they made this change. I would've voted for lowering the price vs changing the hardware.

because sharp no longer produces obsolete LCD monitor anymore? :)

400:1 contrast ratio? Je**s f**king chr**t.

That's an extremely low contrast ratio.

The decreased response time is fantastic, and the best news as far as the new model goes!

Why they didn`t include a better batery in new model. That sux..
Anyway, you can always lower contrast and Mhz, that will add some additional time. =)

Some new information I found from IGN:

New firmware:
1. Color Space setting. This can be switched between Wide and Normal. Wide exploits the full color depth of the revised hardware, while Normal returns you back to PSP-2000 level color.
2. Automatic USB Connection. When this is switched on, the PSP switches to USB mode automatically when a USB device is connected (should apply to all models, I guess).
3. Noise reduction feature for video out. This is used to cut the noise when outputting the PSP's video signal to a television (should apply to both 2000 and 3000).

To answer dogs' question:
Outside of the firmware changes, the Famitsu.com article makes note of some of the changes that players might notice (or might not notice) when doing screen comparisons for themselves. The PSP-3000's screen strengths are most apparent when looking at natural colors such as human skin. However, the differences may not be as apparent with current games. The Famitsu.com article shows a shot of the LocoRoco title screen with the differences barely distinguishable between the two units. The problem, the site speculates, could be that current games have had their colors fine tuned to look best under the 2000's limited color depth. The site expects future games to fully exploit the PSP-3000 screen's strengths.

Oh of course not.  And I am a PSP 2k owner and lover.

I'm just happy that the new one that I'll be buying will have one 5x better.

But 400:1 is just laughably low.
