I'm still within my year by about a month.
I left an e mail to customer support, we'll see what happens.
We'll miss you George.

@DaSimkin
I'm not sure if you udnerstand the idea of a used market. Or the idea of what failure xbox 360 has.
You shouldn't sell non-working consoles and claim they are working. therefore a person who is buying a broken xbox either knows how to fix it, or is a complete fool.
So if 1 xbox is sold and fixed and another xbox is bought...thats 2 working xboxes on the market. the person with that used xbox would have bought a new one if there was no used available...
Also, most of the falures are RROD meaning that they are replaced through microsoft and are not in circulation anymore.
If 33% of xboxes are DOA and still being sold on the market over and over for some reason without actually playing any games...xbox 360 has the highest attach rate out of any console known to man.
| kutasek said: 1) Do intentional RROD. 2) Sell it like me, and wait until price cut. |
do the first one
i don't think it's cheating
because they sold u a crappy hardware in the first place

Sometimes i wonder if people doing this is the real reason MS is in #2 position and not number 3. Sure they've sold almost 20 million of them, but 6 million of those are re-sales to people that already had one that broke down. |
It has already been stated many times that those don't factor into the totals at all.

I'll take it out of the 360, and look at it, and there is a thin crack running from the inside of the disc out. dead Rising, and just this morning Eternal Sonata have fallen victim to this.
Argh.
Will it help if I turn the 360 on it's side? |
Why are you posting this here, does this look like a technical support forum?
Do you get your groceries from the the police station?
Do you go to worship god in the supermarket?
Call the technical support line or look do a google search.
Different drives have a higher or lesser likelyhood of scratching your discs.
This is only a problem when the unit is placed vertically.
The Samsung drives are notorious for scratching discs because they have bits missing that are needed to cushion the disc if it comes out of place when mounting the 360 vertically.
When I read about horizontal scratching, I always come to the conclusion the person is just making shit up to rubbish the 360....This assumption has been proven true time and time again.
| disolitude said: I don't know if it will help but it may be time to sell your 360 on craiglist or call microsoft to replace your unit(if under warranty) .With price cuts coming you can let go of yours for cheap and pick up new pro for 199.
Edit: I keep mine standing up and it has never scratched a disk in almost 2 years time(3 different xboxes). I play it atleast 2 hours a day. So that may help... |
^nice viral marketing
on topic though its happend to me, i traded in LO today i got bored on dvd#4, i dunno about cashiers in the states, but over here especially in GAME they check each disk, now dvd#4 was perfect but 1 - 3 was scratchy. i know all i ever did was pop the dvd in and took it out when it asked me to change dvd`s, so it must have been the 360 that scratched them, i have mine flat down.
does anyone else have scratched dvd`s that were bought as new?
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

This assumption has been proven true time and time again.
If it was proved it wouldn't be an assumption.
I called the support line, and theyre sending me a box for a warranty repair.
They were actually pretty pleasent about it.
We'll miss you George.

Dammit dude, Halo 3 almost met the same fate. I was inspecting my games, and Halo 3 has the exact same crack starting in it also.
