Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft comments on Gears of War 2 debacle

This game will eventually make it's way to PC. But seriously who cares. I left PC gaming years ago and never looked back.

We all know it's coming to PC.

Just admit it.

^Youre right, not really. Its just another nice bullet for some to add to the arsenal of reasons not to own a 360.

Microsoft is tired of people playing for free.
PC players would not buy Xbox Live subs -- so this is their revenge, they won't release (themselves) any PC games that are from their console collection.
It makes good (short-run) business sense -- but may force people to start buying substitutes from your competitors (bad long-run business).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Of course it will come to PC, but I bought a 360, because I don't want to wait when those games are going to released maybe 1 or 2 years later and yes my 360 purchase was worth it :)

I don't see how keeping something exclusive forces people to buy from your competition...

So the PS3 keeping MGS4 and LBP makes people go out and buy X360's and Wii's?  I don't buy it.  Exclusives are one of the biggest factors in purchasing a console imo.

Of coure they didn't, online services such as Battle.net have been around since '98 and they are completely free. Now comes along M$ 10 years later and expects PC players to just start throwing money to play a subpar online experience (it's subpar compared to other PC shooters not other console games) online. Anyone else see something messed up with their plan?

I agree that Microsoft is shooting itself in the foot by not having PC games released and jsut keeping them on a console. Even fewer people are gonna want to buy vista now than before. I also can't think of any PC gamer worth his salt that would buy a 360 solely just because GoW2 is exclusive to it. All in all, this decision makes me laugh, and kinda sad because GoW was one of the few co-op shooters I have played since DOOM. Ah well I guess I will be playing TF2 more now.

I like how Gears 2 is a "debacle", but PS3 console exclusives are "good business".

Saying that the biggest game of 2008 holliday season is coming to PC before it comes out is like making a Wiimote controller for a PC and releasing mario games on it.

the difference is that MS will most likely release ot on PC in 6 months after release...

Meh, it's better on the 360 anyways. Playing on couch in front of my TV is always better than playing hunched over in my desk chair on a half the size monitor.
