That'd put it at an extra 1m+ units in my opinion, giving it around 1.7-1.9m LTD install base. Definitely not good compared to the PS3 or Wii, but amazing given how poorly the Xbox did, and the actual launch sales of the Xbox 360. |
You do realize that only 4 systems have ever did the slim thing. 3 of them being from sony and one from nintendo with the DS. I dont it will be possible for 360 to get a slim model with how long itsa taking them to competely get rid of RRoD and the proprietary HDD that they use. HDDs being so important to an xbox systems design will put alot of obsticals in the way of having a new system with a different sized HDD than older models that may need to be replaced.
I doubt that we will see a slim version of any of the current conoles on the market for another 2 years, if ever.

How about the fact that the Slim has already been announced by TEN, and TSMC?
The Xbox 360 is scheduled to ship in an "all 65 nm" package (Jasper platform) this August. Consumers won’t notice the refresh, unless Microsoft decides to put a Blu-ray drive into the Xbox 360. We were not able to receive a confirmation either way, and we keep digging to find out if the Asustek subsidiary Pegatron will manufacture regular Xbox 360’s or units with an integrated Blu-ray drive. In any case, Celestica, Pegatron and Wistron will have a busy summer cranking out millions of refreshed Xbox 360 consoles.
A more dramatic and perhaps visible change will happen next year: TSMC plans to begin producing the Valhalla chip, which will be the foundation of the mid-cycle refresh of the Xbox 360, thus called ‘Xbox 2.5’ or simply ‘Xbox 540’ (360+180), in fall of 2009. We learned that this new chip is apparently much more than a die-shrink and end up as a system-on-a-chip design. This change is likely to enable to redesign the Xbox 360 casing and go towards a slim-design, much like what Sony did with the Gen1 and Gen2 PS2. We believe that TSMC will use a 45 nm process for this Multi-Chip-Module package (CPU+GPU+eDRAM).
Same people that said Jasper would ship in August, same people that said Falcon would ship last August. They make the components for the Xbox 360, and know what the next revision(s) will hold. Next year is the Slim.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
Keep in mind that the Xbox 360 is on schedule to be $99 by 2009 if the price cuts continue as they've been going.
It looks like MS is happy to give these things away to try to get decent sales numbers. Now hopefully they'll get some decent sales numbers out of them.
This year they are getting Infinity Undiscovery, then Last Remnant, maybe Naruto ubisoft version.
And that`s all japanese games, which would interest japanese.
They probably will reach 800k by the end of this year.
By the end of 2009 it will be probably 1.05 mln.
By the end of 2010 it should be 1.25 mln.
And probably by the end of 2011 it will be 1.3 mln. =)
Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...
2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.
1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.
PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far
It can reach 1.5M, but first I'd like to see the reaction to the price cut and the next RPGs Infinite undiscovery, Last Remnant and next Spring Star Ocean 4. If they can give a boost in sales and the console gains popularity and new titles announced, 1.5M looks like and optimal number, however if they don't have the expected impact I'd be less optimistic and talk about 1.2M console sold.
They will reach one million. Beyond that, who knows but it's not going too far... 2 million IMO is just not possible.
