Oh for crappy. So, now, RE5 will play just like the standard military-based shooter. Fucking great. Why not just call it Gears of Evil and remove it from the RE timeline altogether?

They're gradually turning my survival horror franchise into just another military shooter. Next thing you know, they'll incorporate squad tactics and finish ruining the series.

I'm hoping they'll somehow figure out how to make this feel survival horroresque, but I keep trying to imagine where in RE4 I'd need to be ducking and covering behind anything and I just can't place the tactic anywhere. Part of the tension of the game was that you couldn't cover easily: you had to defend yourself with your guns or you were fucked. That's what made the game so freaky.

Sigh...I guess I'll go back to hoping the RE2 Wiimake with RE4 controls is real...

Hey man, there were cultists with rockets launchers on a platform in this ONE room where I would have died for some cover, but hiding behind a door also worked so I guess it wasn't integral.

I can already see the GoW crowds, "OOOO YEAAAAH, safe behind my cement block, whatcha gonna do?"  parasite arches over and eats his head. That whould provide some quality laughter.

Their first mistake wass when they said they wouldn't make RE5 for the wii with wii controls given what happened with RE4 Wii edition.

He could mean something else when referring to a Gears-like system--maybe an 'A-button-does-all' type of thing. RE4 started this (A picks up items, opens doors, kicks enemies, kicks doors, jumps over certain things, uses context-sensitive items, etc.) They may just be expanding it to include a fast-run if you hold the button and a roll if you tap it. That would be like Gears, and a natural evolution of RE4.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Wait, they said THAT?

It's coming up on outselling the GC version, FFS...

This just in "CAPCOM HATES MONEY!"

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

Awesome. I'm glad these games could borrow from each other. Definitely the best third person shooters, and indeed shooters in general that I've ever played, as far as innovation and depth. RE4 and Gears both added new elements and improved on all old elements of shooters. Now that these series are taking notes from each other, maybe we can get the best of both worlds.

I'd rather have better gameplay, than worse gameplay while being able to say, "I didn't copy."

You go capcom. Do whatever it takes to make your game as good as possible, and just shut the haters out.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Im starting to dislike this game more and more.

So RE is now a shooter.

That's what I was about to say...

So less people will buy the game then.

I think and hope people are reading too much into this.

I think this only means that they will add the capability of moving and shooting at the same time.
I doubt you'll be able to fire while running.
And I really don't think it will implement stop and pop.

I also hope they will still allow a "classic" control style, which will still have the RE4 control.
