Forums - Gaming - Buying Strategy Guides

When was the last time you bought a strategy guide if at all? Why did you buy it?  Did you find it more helpful than advice from friends/internet?

The last time I bought a strategy guide was one for Sonic Adventure.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I buy a guide for all my FFs. I have to have everything.

Other than that, I've bought a guide for Star Ocean 3, and honestly I've no clue why :-/

I find GameFAQs to be more than awesome enough for most games.

PSN: chenguo4
Current playing: No More Heroes

I bought Zelda: OoT and TWW strategy guides for the sake of my collection.

If i'm stuck and can't beat something myself I'll go look at a walk through.

I see what you're saying.  I'm not the biggest FF but I often find myself lost easily in those games.

Star Wars: Rogue Sqaudron II, I dont even know why I bought it.

Well I kinda do, and don't it just feels complete for some odd reason to have a strategy guide and the game :)
I for one only buy strategy guides for major releases so it looks good in my collection. Other than that, I just use the internet for my guide through games on tough parts.

Same can be said for gaming magazines. Why depend on gaming magazines when you get up-to-date news automatically on the internet?!

I would never go to the store and spend 10 or 15 dollars on a strategy guide... my money is scarce D=... I rarely use a strategy guide for games... last time I used it was for Eternal Darkness on gamefaqs but not for the entire game just one part where I was stuck on for a few days. I also have a strategy guide for Animal Crossing where it's a must have to catch all the bugs and fishes

I suppose I'm a sort of collector when it comes to strategy guides. If I buy a game, and there's a players guide for that said game, I'll buy it, or ask for it as a gift.

I'll use it, but it's not primarily used as an actual guide, more of a collectors item.

So, uh... the most recent strategy guide I own is for Mario Kart Wii. Ridiculous, I know, but I got it for free from renewing my Nintendo Power subscription.
