I don't understand why this is so hard for people to understand. We get it, Amazon is only a small part of the puzzle, but it is significant when looking at demand as it is a general survey of a fair amount of buyers. No one said the Wii is being outsold by the PS3 or the 360, but it's a good way to gauge momentum. Just look at how the 360 shot up and before that the PS3 did. I think it's a really good sign that the PS3 is in the top 5 still on Amazon after a month of the price cut and the price cut for the 360, let's see how they compete in the coming weeks.

I disagree on the signficance. Unless you want to quantify just how 'significant' the significance is. :p
It is not that Amazon is a small sample of the population that is the problem. The problem is that is not typical of what we are seeing in the general case. If Amazon is an indication of momentum, then clearly the DS and Wii have lost momentum, the former is not even in the top 10!
And that word again, momentum. All of a sudden I am reminded of Joe Lieberman's failed 2004 presidential campaign. What you are seeing now is likely not momentum - but you may be tricked into thinking it is if you are following Amazon's top seller list.
