FF9 for me untill I play 6. I've played 12, am on the second disc on 9, mildly started 7, playing FF3 on DS. Yes.... I love RPGs...... it's an addiction........

EDIT: oh, and I got to around 45% on FFX-2 b4 I got bored and quit.....

Seconded. I'll also add that I liked IX a little bit more than VI. But VI still blows most other games out of the water.

I feel VI is better then IV. And VII is better then VI.

I say you try VII, many will try and tell you it is overrated because it sold the most blah blah but it is indeed the best.

no, the reason FF7 got all that stuff is because of how highley it was praised and because of its sales. FF7 was NOT at all the best FF game, though it was great, and, if i do say so, amazing.

but seriously.
Advent Children = sucked.
Dirge of Cerberus = sucked.
Crisis Core = great.
i have a whole rant about how after FFX, S-E made really bad games, but that era ended with Crisis Core and The World Ends With You (how awesome were those games.)

everything between that was crap,
Dirge of Cerberus, Advent Children, FFXI was okay but nothing spectacular, FFXII, FFXII Reverent Wings, FFX-2, etc.

It was my favorite, till the beast that is FF7 came. Definitely the best of the 2D FF games and still one of the best overall. I loved the gritty industrial feel and the music ROCKED too!

Still my 3rd favorite tho, with FF10 as my 2nd and FF7 as my 1st.

Final Fantasy VI will have to remain my favorite because a short time after that game's heyday on the SNES (where I knew it as FFIII), I generally lost interest in RPG's.

There it is, you know what butt tons of praise and the sales to back it up get you? THE BEST OF THE SERIES AWARD thats what.

Advent Children= ultimate awsomeness for those who kno the ENTIRE story of the game, many could not grasp the context of the movie simply they did not fully understand the game. Thats fail on there part not the movie's.

DOC= ok action 3rd person action shooter. Mediocre voice acting, but tolerable. Spectacular graphics(duh this is SE foo!) and fun game play. The issue with it is that it has very little berring with the main FF story. Not a bad game, but a bad Final Fantasy (like Spirits Within).

Crisis Core= oh so awsome dude, we can agree.

And I dont see anyone wanting a remake of any of the other ones as much as this one so that proves it right there, the most loved, the most sales, the most recognition, means the best game.

It's called milking a spikey blonde sissy with a big sword and a blonde with long hair and too many zippers for all its worth.  It was the first to hit mainstream so it spun off so many times.

OT: I agree with VI being the best.  I liked IX though I wasn't able to ever beat it and XII was really fun for me but wasn't able to finish it either.
