I belive that Fall of 2008 is Sony time. Call me a fanboy call me a viral marketer, whatever, here are the reasons Sony has a supreme edge over Microsoft.

Bluray: Bluray gives PS3 a huge advantage. Why? Because When you are explaining to your wife/husband/lover why you dropped close to half a "G" on a gaming system you can also say "and it's also a bluray player! Isn't that great I cant wait to watch (Insert their favorite movie) with you on the new HDTV!" Just think about the Dark Knight on Bluray.

If Microsoft planed on pushing Dowloading movies etc. onto the 360 it could only serve to highlight how expensive it's propritary harddrives are skewering the perception that the 360 is less expensive.

Big Games that were released early this year are going to sell even more during the holiday season most notably GTA 4 and other huge games along those lines. BIG games like GTA4 move units more then less popular (even if arguably better games) then say Uncharted or Mass Effect. For games like GTA4 or COD4 neither 360 nor PS3 will have a real advatage.

PS3's edge in gaming will come as a multi pronged assult against Gears of War 2 and Fable 2. They are: MGS4. Like GTA 4, MGS4 will get a holiday sales boost and hey 2 months after it's release, any owner of that game can tell you it's easily one of the best this gen. There is no GTA4 hype factor there. Little big planet it will be huge, if not in sales, then by adding to the impression that PS3 has gaming experiances that are completely unique. Bioshock will be comming out on PS3 with a better version shortening the "Solid 360 exclusives" list big time.

And Home will be the icing on the cake. Even if you're not into all the cool features that Home will be offering the buzz it creates will be a contant reminder that online gaming on PS3 is yep absolutely free. XBL might not be that expensive but for most people free is always better.

Online fees, expensive harddrives, last gen media player (DVD), and the lingering concerns over RROD are why in my opinion the 360 must go for broke and price the arcade at $150. Eat the loss and win the HD console war. If they don't, in all honesty they will need to start thinking about releasing a new Console by 2010. Gears of War 2 no matter how good it is will not move many consoles.

We´ll have to see if the $199 price in the U.S. will be enough to offset the 360 losing in Europe and Japan.
