Forums - Sony - I took the dive.....

I bought Lair, despite all the negatives it received (really only focusing on the controls).

And even with the availability of the analog control patch, I played with the standard controls. My thoughts? WTF was all the complaining about? Now I'm not going to say that this game is actually great, and all the reviewers are stupid (ala Infinite Undiscovery) but it's not bad either. The only issue I had with the game in my first couple run throughs were some framerate drops. With the Sixaxis, I easily banked left/right, ascended/descended, and pulled 180's, so I'm just not understanding why everyone claimed the controls were so horrid.

I did download the analog controls patch, so I'm about to try that out, and I'll give further impressions

Edit: Don't worry, I didn't pay too much for it lol. I used my EDGE card and a 25% off coupon that Gamestop sent me in my email. It was about $20 afterwards (Lair is $30 used at Gamestop...but $60 new....WTF!?! Yet it's $30 new at Wal-mart)

This is pretty much how I felt. I think how bad the game is was completely blown out of proportion.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

The game was released on the PS3 in it's first WW year with issues..... of course it's gonna get attacked like crazy ..... it's a ps3 exclusive XD

The hate was blown out of proportion, there are a some issues, but not like what was described. I mark it all down as console hatred.... most of it anyway.....

I've played it a bit, But I wanna know how replayable and how's the lasting appeal of the game is, or if it's really long???? CAn anyone help me with these questions????

The gams not too bad. I actually enjoyed it on the PSP with remote play. It controls better, looks great and is really fun as an on the go PS3 game. I would just get some wifi when I was somewhere else and play it from my PS3, was great.

PSN ID: ChosenOne feel free to add me

I am going to rent it at some point

The controls were bad, but not crushingly bad. Its the ****ing targeting system that made the game awful.

I want to target a dragon. I press the target button ( circle i think it was)
I target a tree, a bush, myself, a castle, a cloud, everything but that goddamn dragon!

*** you lair!

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

I'll be making a Haze thread like this soon.

Yeah i played it and thought what all the fuss was about, its not brilliant, but not terrible either

Funny thing about Lair is that I rented it when the patch was released. Went straight for the analog controls, found it unplayable (because I cannot play inverted) and turned the motion sensor back on. To my surprise, It really wasn't that bad of a game, especially near the end when I have gotten used to the control scheme.

The ocean graphics are among the best ever and maelstrom stage looks amazing.

I didn't like the analog controls whatsoever, so I switched back to the motion controls. They were just weird...I guess I'm already accustomed to the controls for Lair because I play Warhawk all the time.

I got to the stage where you first fight the rhinos, and I had a blast...not the previous level though, because it was too dark. Maybe it was just my TV

@stubbs

Targeting is with L1 and R1, not O. When you target and press O, you charge them.
