@DGC I was comparing U.S to Others not U.S to Japan.
Tease.
That article was so laughable. You can almost see how hard he had to try to give evidence for the 360 version selling better while leaving out ALMOST ANY evidence that the PS3 version would sell better. It's exclusive in Japan where the series is strongest, and even if the 360 version was released there as well, the difference between the two versions in sales would be easily enough to counter the American difference. There are a lot of battles the 360 can win, but this isn't one of them.
By the way, if you're using Grand Theft Auto 4 as an example of a game that sold better on the 360...it hasn't even come out in Japan yet, and it's not even a very strong series there (half a million or so for San Andreas). We're talking about a series that sells almost nothing in Japan compared to a series that sells the most in Japan almost all of the time. Plus, when GTA4 came out, the 360 userbase was more than or about equal to the PS3 userbase in Europe, and the game's strongest market (UK), was dominated by the 360.
Do I need to continue to stack up reasons? 360 fanboys feel the need to win everything even when there's no chance whatsoever. Stop it, you lost. You may have stolen a big exclusive but it's not going to sell better. Devil May Cry 4 sold better because of the Japanese advantage the PS3 had and the same will happen with Final Fantasy 13 (except with a far larger margin).
Yeah, what the pink wolfie thing said, I agree and stuff.

not going to happen.
However, a multiplatform FF release is sure to sell more than a single platform release.
The only market where 360 might sell more copies is US.
i don't think it would happen but who knows.......

Ooooooh.... my mistake....
4 ≈ One
What everyone usually overlooks in these discussions is that the demographics for both consoles are not the same. First the typical 360 consumer on average is a more aggressive purchaser. Second the 360 is a role playing console. More so now then before the Final Fantasy announcement.
To be very plain if we are talking a huge title, and one in a predominantly 360 genre we should expect the adoption rate for the title to be much higher on the 360 then on the PS3. Further more one market is entirely irrelevant thus far this generation, and that market would be Japan. Japan has a real hard on for portable gaming. The market seems downright chilly for the genre on consoles. Even Dragon Quest has yet to drag itself over a million units sold total on the regions dominant platform.
I have never understood the logic that somehow the PS3 is going to move a lot of role playing games. When it has yet to ever sell more then a half a million units even in its limited library. I also do not understand the logic that says the typical PS3 owner even wants to play this genre anyway. I know it was used as a sword in fanboy debates, but the blade even then seemed rusty. Were the typical PS3 owner truly interested in this genre they would have not bought a PS3 especially a year after launch. Once the 360 had over a dozen titles compared to all of three the PS3 had. Even now it is questionable whether a genre fan should pick up a PS3. While there is ample incentive for them to pick up a 360.
This goes beyond install bases. This goes to the core of the demographics. Were we talking about a fantastic first person shooter with a wonderful online component being for both platforms. There would be no debate the 360 would sell more, because the 360 install base adores that genre. I am not entirely sure what it is that sets the PS3 user base off, but it is a totally different beast.
I see no reason for the supposition that the PS3 will sell more thirteen beyond stupid fanboy lust. There needs to be some actual proof that this console can move this genre. The average owner isn't going to just buy this title, because they are expected to.
The ps3 version will sell more beacuse its exclusive in Japan and it will sell no less than 2 million there, so i dont think 360 version can sell 2 million more than ps3 version.

1) Your arguments are weak. If you look at the numbers of GTA and Devil MAy Cry again and look at the ratio of consoles sold to games sold, the PS3 out performed the 360 on every game.
2) I'm trying to find this article I read on N4G a while ago. A recent survey they had made showed that 53% of PS2 owners still haven't made the jump into next gen gaming. So now if you want to make a good argument, you have to consider "what if x percent" of these PS2 owners make their switch onto the PS2; from which many will be FF fans, GoW fans, GT fans etc.
Obviously they can go towards the 360 or a Wii but let's be honest- if they wanted to switch to next gen but were lacking the switch would have already been made to a 360 or a Wii which are the cheaper end next gen machines. Their would have not been a wait for the next gen jump.
3) Japan will give the PS3 exclusivity and this will make up for some huge numbers.
4) FFV will also be PS3 exclusive.
5) GTA and DMC have been the same on both machines, but the new FF game will all depend on how much compression the 360 version will need to go through. If the game is reviewed to be better on the PS3, what effect will this have on 360 sales?
6) The PS3 is picking up momentum it terms of sales and releases. It is only 5million behind now and by the time of FF release it may have already caught up if not by passed the 360.
On the other hand:
1) if 360 manages to stall the PS3 momentum and take it's lead back again on weekly sales, then FF may do better on the 360.
2) If the games quality has no variation then it may sell better.
3) If the PS3 has no price drop before the release of FF it may do better.
I will try find the stats again on N4G and re-post it for you as soon as I find them.

1. Fine 2. Doesn't it sell the best in the U.S as an overseas territory anyway and the U.S console sales are going to far outstrip the PS3 sales in Japan by a large proportion so the Xbox 360 lead there is going to be more important?

2. Yes, but Sony is making ground there, and I am sure that Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 will have a large effect on the console sales there. Of course it does depend on what happens after the upcoming price cut, but I still think that the PS3's line-up is better, and of course LBP will move about 10m consoles..... Of course, the game is still over a year away, so it is tricky to tell what is going to happen up till then
