Forums - Gaming - Why doesn't Lucasarts commission Namco to do a proper SW fighting game?

It seems like the fighting system of Soul Calibur could be expanded upon and used to create a proper Star Wars fighting game.  If Namco could somehow work in a system for using Force powers for things like picking up items and throwing them at your opponent, they could really be onto something.  Is it possible that SC4's inclusion of the SW characters was somewhat of an experiment?  Could we finally get a game that would wipe the bad taste of Masters of Teras Kasi out of our collective mouths?

Obviously, we will soon find out how well the battle mode works in Force Unleashed for Wii and Clone Wars for Wii.  I think they'll be good, but not great.  I think for a true fighting game masterpiece, who better to do it than Namco?

 Capcom =P

Though I believe Lucasarts can pull it off with Clone Wars.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Well, if LucasArts makes it, they keep all the money. If they outsource it to Namco, they have to pay Namco.

Stars Wars, as a franchise, is pretty designed to milk money. I think they'll keep it to themselves.

 Umm...

Rogue Squadron (Factor 5)

Knights of the Old Repbulic (Bioware)

Knights of the Old Republic 2 (Obsidian)

Battlefront (Pandemic)

So... what?

Ooh I stand corrected.

*edit* But my comment about LucasArts milking Stars Wars for money stands. But I guess that's just the industry standard now...

How about instead of lucasarts funding more starwars games they make some new adventure games :( Lucas arts went from hero to zero as far as I'm concerned.

 Could be interesting if Capcom were to do a Power Stone style SW fighting game.

That would be AWESOME.  Though I'd personally love to see a Smash Bros-style Star Wars game
