Forums - Sales - 10 Most Expensive Video Game Budgets Ever

I can vouch for the FFIX figure. It comes straight from an interview with Sakaguchi. I would provide a link, but I have it bookmarked on my PC, and I'm currently on my sisters...

For $100 million you would think that Rockstar would be able to put out a game without any glitches. Honestly, how much do game testers cost these days?

Too Human is not 10 years in development.
It was a PS1 title which was pushed away and then rebooted ~3 years ago.
So, it definitely didn't cost that much.

As laughably expensive as GTA IV was, I still cut Rockstar some slack on this one. Sandbox games are incredibly complicated to make and eliminating the bugs is hard.

Has anybody ever put out a sandbox game that was even close to being bug-free? I haven't played one.

Poorly reference article. We don't know where the information came from nor what each value actually represents.

lol i can tell you the source

 GTA4 cost = internet rumour
 MGS4 cost = internet rumour
Halo 3 cost = internet rumour
Killzone 2 cost = the estimated cost of the project last year (including marketing)...
 etc.

In the end this is article is poorly written and obviously wrong when it claims Too Human cost $80 million+ to develop. I mean sure it took 10 years -- but Silcon Knights could not spent much in the first few years of devlopment ($8million per year for a PS1 game is unheard of...), and then based on the final product i doubt they spent more than $20 million porting the game from the gamecube to the 360...

Ditto.

Wow, out of the games on that list that have been released I only enjoyed 2 of them. I guess a big budget doesn't ensure a quality game.

No Nintendo titles. Doesn't surprise me.

What about psychonauts
