People with serious inheritable disabilities should not be allowed to reproduce.

did anyone else strongly agree with this?

i actully disagreed with that one, everone has a right to have child, besides there is a good chance the child might not inherit the disability

But we don't allow close relatives to marry (at least in most places, amiright?)

Hey halogamer1989, you're (barely) closer to Hillary Clinton than John McCain!!!

depending on the disease there can be a high probability that their child or then grandchild will have the disease. some of these diseases can have absolutely horrible effects that cause a lot of pain and suffering of the individual and those around them. i cant see how it would be conscionable to let it occur when its likely to happen.

I thought you were pro life? Don't you believe abortion is wrong even if the pregnant woman's life is in danger (or am I thinking of someone else). And then you say something like that? Doesn't that seem a bit hypocritical?.

Anyway, just to use one of pro-lifers favourite arguments against them, you just killed Beethoven.

I am more Libertarian than anything so I don't think this is entirely accurate.  A lot of those questions are hard to see how they relate to where you stand on the political spectrum.  I am definitely on the right though, I hate communism.

But this isnt even the issue.  Not allowing someone have a child, is not the same as abortion.

In regards to beethoven though...Deaf  people are more than able to live happy, healthy, and productive lives within our societies.  So i wouldnt even classify it like that.

and i am pro life, but thats not my correct position

Ok...I don't really feel like jumping in on this....but I feel I must.

The question asked:  Do you think couples with hereditary diseases should be allowed to reproduce? And you said "no"...but you didn't say anything (and neither did the test) about having sex.  Now we all know that protected sex prevents unwanted babies...but the forms of protection often fail...or are neglected.  So if the government were to forbid couples with herditary diseases from procreating (again, which is difefrent from having sex)...an emergency abortion would have to be conducted.

And that's the rub.

The Beethoveen thing wasn't properly introduced. It was some junk e-mail that used to float around. I forget the details. Basically, it tricks you into thinking Beethoveen's mom shouldn't have had her next kid, because she just had like 7 retard babies in a row, each worse than the last, and was insanely unhealthy.

Then it's like "Hahaha it was Beethoveen sucker."

I think it's the same one that tells you Hitler was a vegetarian who didn't drink or smoke, but FDR and Churchill were both huge drunks pounding pints of hard liquor every day on the job, to try to trick you into voting for Hitler.

Communism is FAR LEFT.  Socialism is generally defines the left.  Being left doesn't make you a communist, it means you care more for things that benefit people than benefit the state.

Unless you wanna be rather strict about it and count the moment of conception as a reproduction, and thus a forced abortion wouldn't prevent reproduction.
