I just love the statements like these that show how defeated the 360 has surely become. First 360 owners world wide spamed the interweb when it came out proclaiming it was better then the PS3 in every way. Yet now that the general populous is becoming more informed this gen you can see that any argument that trys to say the 360 can survive the PS3 onslaught is highly invalid.
1. The PS3 costs too much.
Turns out the PS3 is a much better bang for your buck. You dont have to deal with RROD, Great game selection, Built in DVD/BD player, built in WIFI, built in USB ports, SD reader, rechargable controllers, free usb cord, etc.
Yet the 40gb doesn't come with HDMI cables, for a 1080p system. Also, Wii with it's worst bang for buck but killer sales says hi!
2.The PS3 breaks down.
This one in particular is a lie I have seen employees from GStop use only to spread there propaganda. THe PS3 does break down.......sometimes. Yet it is still no where near the failure rate of the 360, being somewhere around 30-35%. RROD and disc drive failure, Disc scratching galore.
ALL ELECTRONIC GOODS RUN THE RISK OF BREAKING DOWN. Obviously the statement implies that it's frequent, but for you to call it a lie means that it never happens, which is false (try and keep up with that :D )
3.The PS3 has no games.
The PS3 has the SAME amount of games that the 360 had in the same time frame. Only thing is the 360 has a lot of games that came out multiplat with the PS2 like the sports games. If you have a BC PS3 you can still play them. PS3 also is a shoe in for MULTIPLE AAA titles this year(Little Big Planet, Resistence 2), with two of the already Perfect games being available on PS3(GTA4, MGS4).
Except the 360 came out a year earlier, and thus has more games. Life is scoreboards, there are no disclaimers about "PS3 did the same as 360 in year 1", the scoreboard says "360 has more games, 360 has more AAA titles, 360 has higher sales".
4. The PS3 won't last long.
Ten year life plan. If you think Sony cant/wont do it just look at the life cycle of there other systems. Doubters are just being stubborn.
PS3 will probably outlast the others, but they may be more sony trying to earn a profit on this venture then it's commitment to future proof systems.
5. BluRay is useless.
BluRay won over the cheaper format, HD Discs. It is now taking the DVD market in small strides. increasing 300% on a yearly basis. Blu Ray has also showen it can help with games such as packing as much content as possible in a singular disc, MGS4 anyone?
300% of 1 is 3, I'm not saying that's what the blu-ray market is right now, but that shows how much percentage figures are worth without proper numbers. Actually, all blu-ray did was allow for uncompressed data, which incidently means very little at the end of the day. MGS4 was how many hours? and we've had 30 hour games since the CD era, what did blu-ray provide?
6.Cell chips are not needed.
Then why have pretty much any developer making a Multiplat game right now have swithed to using IT as it's lead platform. Yes, the cell is a tad harder to program for then the 360, but it has shown to produce better results for both systems. No developer in there right mind will tell you the 360 can out perform the PS3, if they do they are delusional.
I agree to that, multiplatform should be on PS3 first, or else the PS3 version will suffer if 360 is lead. But that's more an indication of sony's poor judgement then smarts.
7. 360 Outsold PS3.
No......it did not. It has a larger install base, this is all. The 360 was doomed from the start, with the PS3 out pacing it in every turn. PS3 has outsold 360 every month consistently since late last year.
Outpacing it at every turn? You've paid as little attention as the person that says "360 outsold ps3"
8. Well we have Live.
Yea, that you have to PAY for every year. PSN is just about equal to Live at this current point in time, what is going to happen when HOME comes out and takes the community junky gamers by storm?
Home, a lesser version and more expensive (PS3 + internet connection) version of Second Life with less content and most likely more bugs (as it's a newly released thing). I'm sure if I were casual I would lay down $699 AUD for a chance to play something that's done better somewhere else for alot less.
Now the only defense for the system is "Yea, it might happen, but when it does it wont matter cuz 720 will be on it's way." Yea, but can the 720 stand up against a system that need not upgrade as it is already got the tech of the future and has a larger install base by default. If the 720 comes out before the PS3's ten year life cycle is up then rest assure we will never see another console war like this again, and sony will stay dominant in Hardcore gamer's households forevermore.
Okay, so if that's the case, never buy another console again. If the PS3 is truly future proof, you should be set from now on. In fact, Sony don't even need to bring out a PS4.
