And who is going to buy/develop for the next Xbox? How much would it cost to develop a game for that console? How much would it cost to manufacture? If it doesn't use blu-ray. then what other option could it possibly have since global downloads aren't ready yet?
Its not as simple as it was before because of Nintendo. Graphical upgrades can't add much anymore, because hardware is outpacing the capabilities of currrent developers. It is also outpacing the returns you get from a game, especially on the extremely limited fanbase the new Xbox would have. No one would make money off of the new Xbox, and no one would upgrade to something that would cost more than the PS3 at the time unless the changes were drastic. Halo would have less appeal because it's not being developed by Bungie, and has no Master Chief.
There are too many reasons why this wouldn't work. The next Xbox would be an even bigger failure than the original if they release it before 2012. Were not ready for it yet, were just getting settled in this generation.
