Forums - Nintendo - Rumor: Europe getting Kart but not SSBB - 2007

Linky: http://www.qj.net/Europe-to-get-Mario-Kart-Wii-this-year-instead-of-Smash-Bros-Brawl-/pg/49/aid/97011

Gaming site N-Europe has reported that a reliable source of theirs has leaked that Mario Kart for the Wii will be released in Europe late in 2007 after it gets showcased in this year's E3 show.

The source also said that the region won't get Super Smash Bros. Brawl until early 2008. In contrast, Nintendo Wii fans in North America will get their hands on Brawl but will have to wait until next year for their shot at Mario Kart Wii.

No clear reason was stated for the trade-off but whines and moans are expected to come from both regions because of the development, if the claim does hold truth in it.

The update follows earlier statements made by Patrick Nagel, Nintendo Germany's Deputy Marketing Manager when he said that Europe is likely to get Mario Kart ahead of the US. We'll fill you in as soon as new word is out to affirm or deny the buzz.

If that is true, which will you prefer first? I still prefer SSMB.  *mod note:  SSBB not SSMB, whatever that is!*

SSBB, but not by a lot. I loved Super Mario Cart and the N64 versions. I would want to play again just for the retro gaming feel. That and to see what they come out with. I am really curious how the Wii controls will play out on something like that.

I really don't believe this rumor at all.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

It'd be generally good news, but why would they do that? Why not just release Kart for both regions in the spring?

Mario Kart is actually that far along? I'm surprised.

But I can't believe either one of these games would get separated...I think Mario Kart will come out in both regions in early 2008, maybe end of January.

And I suure hope SSBB comes out this year worldwide. If it didn't...that almost suggests worldwide online play is in question.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

That's ridiculous. I'll be SHOCKED if this is true. Much easier to bring SSBB to Europe, than it is to develop Mario Kart early.

I expect Mario Kart to headline Wii releases Xmas 2008.

...

Only chance, is if Nintendo have some information that show that SSBB will not be a system seller in Europe - but that Mario Kart will be. Or that its impossible to get SSBB ready for Europe (too much text?) for Xmas, and they want something online for the holidays.

...

Mario Kart *could* be ready - maybe a port of the arcade game? With extra courses?

EDIT: too many acronyms!!

You too! it's SSBB, not SSBM...

Well, I read in GAF that the team that makes MK hasn`t had any projects since the finished Nintendogs and MK DS. And they are suppossed to have 2 teams. So actually it is possible that they may release MK Wii in the end of the year. Wonder how it will work though. How many control schemes, more track plz, how good will online be, etc

Same here. This is mostly becuase the franchise always does better in the states. Why would they want to miss the Holidays. If it is true, the only reason I guess would be to space it oput. of course, I think 2008 worldwide is a bit better.

Mario Kart Wii... already?

I find it weird that they'd release the game just months after announcing it, sounds a bit odd to me, but personally I'd prefer Mario Kart before Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but above all I'd like them BOTH at the same time,

I do believe that Mario Kart Wii would be more of a system seller in Europe then that of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
