First I've heard of this game.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

But even a western shooter for the PS3 that was already released for 360, performed almost 3 times better. I dont know but I thought Japanese liked this kind of games. It would have sold better if it had received any hype.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.
Why is anyone surprised???
A) It is a S-T-R-A-N-G-E game, - even by Japanese standards. No mass market consumption here. 90+% of sales will be word of mouth sales. Those you won't see in launch week.
B) Graphics are CRAP. Which isn't surprising because this is at best a very niche title and at worst a very niche title only for Japan. Irregardless, it won't help sales any.
C) Not the most popular of genre either. But if this game sales it'll be purely for it's off-the-wall wackiness.
D) No real marketing - which makes 100% sense. This game has no mass appeal. People who would like it will find it (eventually). Pointless to waste marketing $$$ for such a niche title.
E) New IP - Rarely does great out of the gate. Assassin's Creed notwithstanding
F) Does anyone even know what actual gameplay is like?? I've seen the videos but still not sure how the game actually plays.
G) A lot of potential buyers are probably waiting for all the reviews of which I've seen none so far. I wouldn't buy it first day either.
H) Do I need to continue? If this game succeeds at any level it'll be with a cult following. Cult followings usually develop over time not over night.
Don't forget this are slow days for sales too.

JP is as unpredictable as it gets. They refused to be defined...LOL

I don't know how things will end up. But have we not learned before to NOT say "X Wii Game failed" based upon first-day Japan sales.
Little things like different context, different market, and "legs" show that Wii games, especially in Japan, may have overall lifetime performances that are acceptable to outstanding even though they are slow out of the gate.
That being said, this game is strange and I wonder if Nintendo got stuck releasing it contractually and just hopes it goes away (so it gave it no PR).

Apparently some things are too creepy for even the Japanese market, which is really saying something when Doki Doki Majo Shinpan does well enough to insipire a sequel and Tingle is popular enough to spawn his own game.
Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

I know that, however, most people claimed it bombed off the start.
I, however, think neither bombed, and both have done as expected.

I have only played Captain Rainbow for about an hour so far, so there may be some action that comes up later, but so far it is 100% adventure.
Apparently for every 20 "kirarin" (gold stars hidden around the island) collected, the player can enter a different mode of the game that will include some battles. However, a quick glance through the manual leaves me with the impression that these action sequences are secondary to the adventure sequences.
By the way, according to the back cover of the game box, Captain Rainbow is an "Actioventure".
