There was a Prince in Zelda? >_>
There are a few characters from Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, I really liked and had hoped would find life in the greater Mario Universe; but none seem to have.
But if you want a really forgotten Nintendo character, how about Pauline?

Your picture is rather creepy. Devil Jin owns. :)

Outside of Japan, they were all named after celebrities, mostly musicians:
Morton Koopa Jr. = Morton Downey Jr.
Iggy Koopa = Iggy Pop
Wendy O. Koopa = Wendy O. Williams
Lemmy Koopa = Lemmy Kilmeister
Roy Koopa = Roy Orbison
Ludwig Von Koopa = Ludwig Von Beethoven (Just as Morton is a Jr. for no one, Ludwig actually has a different last name: Von Koopa)
Larry Koopa = Could be anyone, really.
Also, there's a creature in the Super Mario World named "Reznor." Any coincidence that Miyamoto is a fan of various forms of Rock music, or that Trent Reznor is a gamer? Who knows.
I was hoping Mike Jones from the 2 StarTropics games would get a mention.
Geno is an odd selection for #1, seeing as how he is mentioned in threads about favorite Nintendo characters so much. Seems like something more obscure, like #5, would be a better fit for #1.
"I feel like I could take on the whole Empire myself."
For SMB2 it's probably because the game wasn't even a Mario game in Japan. It's original name was Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic and it didn't have the Mario characters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yume_K%C5%8Dj%C5%8D:_Doki_Doki_Panic
Pretty much the only thing that was changed when it was brought to the US was the main characters.

Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Aside from #5, I didn't forget any of those.
Maybe "Albatoss" from Mario 2 or "whatever the hell you fight" from Wrecking Crew should've made the cut.
I remember all of these except the Prince of Hyrule.
People need to stop calling Geno a Ninty character.
