Wii Music 'Today's Musical Instrument' #1

In preparation for the release of the Balance Board-supported Wii Music later on this year, Nintendo is rolling out 'How to' videos on the gesture controls of the game's many instruments.

Although it appers only the drum simulator in http://www.balanceboardblog.com/2008/07/e3-2008-wii-music-2008-trailer.html">Wii Music makes use of the Balance Board, it seems a shame to miss out on everything else the game has to offer. Here's to the first of many - the marimba:

Now the world is weird  and people take Prozac  to make it normal.

Cautiously moving this game up a half a step on the radar. It looks like Miyamoto's comment that you didn't need rhythm for this game might be a tad overstated.

"You can never jump away from Conclusions. Getting back is not so easy. That's why we're so terribly crowded here."

Uh he never said it. WiiMusic is based on the concept of improvvisation and not in fidelity like Guitar Heroes.

The scope in Guitar Heroes is to recreate a track exactly pushing buttons with certain timing. In WiiMusic you manipule the flow of music wavinf the wiimote ( at least this is what I understand about it )

This...

I don't know what this is.

Really, what's the point?

It doesn't look like their any skill involved at all. No timing, no coordination, no management, nothing but waggling for the reward of a sound that is kinda-sorta semi-related to the way you waggle.

I don't get it.

Looks fun though.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
