Forums - Sony - Sony introducing the first ever 240Hz LCD TV and the world’s thinnest TV.

Looks beautiful. I am not so sure about the 240Hz thing though. I would really like to know if there is any difference you can see.

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

True, sadly they are also more expensive but I still got one. You can be lucky with the other companies and the panels are the same as the ones Samsung uses (I think) but if you can get a Sony for a good price its worth it. Bad signals like TV simply look better and the whole design/build quality is topnotch.

I don't have an LCD or Plasma TV yet because I tend to procrastinate on buying technology that is developing quickly and gives me no immediate benefit. I think it will be interesting to see what is available in 2010 as an affordable ($1000 or less) TV ...

We'r getting closer to TVs that you paste onto you wall.

I think the dust will soon have settled.
You will soon get an 40" 1080p TV that handles analog signals reasonably well for 1000$. And the moment this is the case at least the basic characteristics won't change anymore. Bigger TVs won't fit in many homes and the resolution will not get bigger. BluRay/DVDs already look almost perfect on current LCDs so this should be a pretty good technological level to enter.

9.9mm...... wow. My 32inch 1080i LCD is like 50mm and I remember thinking that was thin...

Anyway, as far as the frame rate gos, 120hz is plenty, 240 is just marketing. there's really no use for it. Also, I don't think plasma will go away until OLEDs are the same price because no matter how you do it, plasmas will pretty much always have a better contrast ratio than a standard LCD screen.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Wow that's neat.

I don't understand the need for such flat screens if you have to have it on a stand though? but as a wall mounted TV.

Why would u buy these when u can buy a SONY Organic LED [OLeds] very soon that has a contrast of 1,000,000:1 [that's a wopping 333.33 x darker black levels!], refresh rate of .00001 milliseconds [absolutly no mation blur!], 10x more colours, very high peak brightness, uses MUCH less power [no back light], longer life, just as thin and contains no harmful mercurey? [when u see these LCD's will look very bland compared to OLeds!]

If u buy a TV now with all these amazing new ones to hit at the end of this year and into next, IMO u would be nutz!

Also to note, there is also LAZER tech comming... bye bye Plasma.

Or perhaps... just perhaps, you would be doing it to save money, considering not many people will care about the black being "more black" when it means paying 2-3 times as much.
