lol an enjoyable read.
Piracy is stealing, plain and simple.
But I would say It's also the most harmless (relatively) form of stealing there is. So... there ya go.
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
I use number 1 a lot for anime.
About 1-2 years ago, I saw Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid subbed at an anime club.
About 3 weeks ago, I saw the complete set in a store so I picked up it up.
It was great then and it's still great today. ^_^
I agree with number one but the analogy with bread should be changed.
The original from the store is never ruined, unlike taking pieces of bread from a loaf.
I can personally say "FUCK YOU" to number five and six.
And hope he realizes that he should try not to generalize anyone.
Other than that, he makes good points.

Well truth be known DRM does help contribute to piracy at least as much as it takes away from it. For instance my copy of WinXP that I run is pirated. That said I have 2 copies of WinXP that I actually own from old computers(I constantly update HW) that have been activiated too many times and I have gotten sick of calling MS because I want to update my Mobo and RAM or my Hard Drive.
I also am a proponent of Fair Use meaning I buy a copy for myself and should be able ot make a copy on tape or DVD or what not. For Video Games the point of this discussion it doesn't bother me for Console Games because the DVDs come in decent cases and can only play on one system or up to three if it is older and you have the most recent console in that compatability line. PC games kind of bugger me though because when it comes to computers I Like Back Ups particularily for games you cna install once and than lose the discs or come n a cheap cardboard box you can lose. There isn't an all in one. Ironically solutions like the WoW account thing do not bother me and digital download for games do not bother me if I can't make a copy(as long as the store remembers you bought the game like the PSN or Wii stores).
DRM does little to nothing to stop pirates though and just causes Headaches in its wake.
meh...
How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...
8. Piracy actually seems to be nuetral as far as the economy goes....
and there is a LOT of evidence backing it up. VS none against it outside of the "come on... it's common sense!" arugement.
For example... with music...

Piracy is wrong... but to claim that it has an economic inpact on companies is unproven at this point... and considering other studies in other kinds of piracy, like the aboved music one... likely should be the unexpected result. Not the expected one.
The only researching that actually shows an effect tend to be ones that go by total CDs sold and shipped to stores, or ones that just count every pirated copy they can find as a lost sale.
The second is obviously spurious, while the first is spurious because it ignores all legal downloadble music and just the fact that stores don't carry as many backstock cds anymore.

Not bad, but you forgot Rule 0: ZOMG its not stealin stop calling me thief just cuz I take stuf that dont belong 2 me BAWWWWW!!!1!!

Fascinating. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. It appears the only logical solution is to upgrade my 360.
