Do you think that week one sales of Gears of War 2 surpass that of Halo 3? Halo 3 was hyped much more and although both games have a Mature rating, Halo could be said to be more "open" to more people. However, the installed base of the Xbox 360 is much larger and due to GeOW 2's proximity to the holiday season, the installed base will only get larger. What do you think?

Thats a GREAT question. I am going to say no on week one cause there are so many games to distract us, Fable 2, Mercenaries 2, COD 5 just to name a few

Absolutely not. Halo 3 was a phenomenon. Gears 2 will be big, but not as big

I personally thing Geow2 will be more of improvement of Geow. Halo3 didnt bring much new to the Halo franchise

Yeah Gears is just not on the same level of hype/following as the Halo franchise.

I would guess not as well. Halo 2 was a massive success whose online multiplayer was king of the hill for innumerable months; they could have put two stones in a box and called it Halo 3 and sold millions. Fortunately, they did not, at least not IMO, I thoroughly enjoyed Halo 3.

Gears was a huge success but I think still building it's fanbase. I think Gears 3, if Gears 2 delivers on its promises, may come closer (though not sure if it would surpass it...Halo 3 was a phenomenon).

No. It'll have better legs overall, but Gears hasn't been around long enough to obtain the kind of insane hype Halo 2/3 had.

However, I think it has a very good shot to hit over 2m opening week.

Great, but let me expand this thread a little: did you buy Halo 3? are you planning on buying Gears of War 2? It would be interesting to see the ratio of Halo 3 buyers to GeOW2 future buyers...
