The game's writer and director makes all Japanese Xbox 360 owners quite sad.

According to the latest issue of Dengeki PlayStation magazine (reported by Kotaku), Final Fantasy XIII writer and director Motomu Toriyama has stated, "there will absolutely not be an Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII for Japan".

You can't get much clearer than that. It does however appear to be a bizarre decision, especially given the work on the Xbox 360 port is going ahead for the game's North American and European releases.

There's still no release date for FFXIII, but we're all hoping it'll be in stores at some point in 2009.

so no ff13 for 360 in japan, i feel that this was part of the deal with square and sony.

i do not belive that sony didnt know anything about ff13 going multiplat, they sure did and i feel securing a japaneese exclusive release was part of the deal to let the game go multiplat.

i predict absolutly massive sales for ps3 in software and hardware upon ff13 release in japan. and is a day one purchase for me when it finally arrives.
