Have you seen these channels? If you think the news channel has enough news in it then you are a sad sad individual.

About Wii whether channel:
Anyway, the Wii online as its own is a fun and original expierience. On-line gaming is in infant stage right now, so the completa on-line feel should be complete with the release of more titles. I like the cat that drops you hints though. Has anyone noticed that cat?

Yeah I am very unimpressed with Nintendo's online. Pokemon is the only US online game on the Wii. This blows. Red Steel might have been tolerable if it had online. It probably still would have sucked, because you just turn way too slow in that game.
I wish they would have made metroid online. And YES I did play the first and second Metroid Primes and MP 2 multiplayer (which sucked). But, MP Hunters was an awesome multiplayer game.
I've been coo with Wii's online capabilities so far.
Wii-internet is nice for videos and when someone else is on the pc.
Voting is fun
News and Weather are not used anymore
online play is what I am waiting for, but i will have that by end of year.
want a demo channel!!!
Mario Strikers will be awesome.
Until then, I Wii online is meh.
"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

The fact is Nintendo does everything on the cheap. The slow internet support is because they don't want to spend money. Since their console is selling with like no online, they will do it on the cheap and make very little online anything on the Wii for a while. Just look at Pokemon DS, they knew it would sell insanely well so they made it as cheaply as they could have.

You make it sound like this is a bad thing! Nintendo is now a larger company than the entirety of Sony precisely because of this type of behavior.
I personally don't care much for the weather or news channels either, but they're great for my Mom (especially Weather). I showed her the Wii, and she instantly was interested in the system when I showed her the weather channel. She's very poor at internet surfing and avoids it whenever possible.

Its a matter of taste. I think its cool. Especially when every one is using the pc.I have used the news channel i think its pretty neat. I agree with Wii need more time on the online part. Oh today some guy shut me up when he started boosting about his ps3."He goes if you put 3 ps3s you can make a super computer".Personally i wouldn't care if it made breakfast or could fly. If i would pick between 360 or ps3. I would go for 360 for some reason.Sorry for changing the subject it kinda puzzled me. Ps3 has a long way to go. But I stay true to nintendo. Wii all the way.

I love when people who have never played a game criticize it. You have no idea what you can do in Pokemon. With the size of the game and the amount of content its surprising they were able to render the world in 3D, put in instrumental music, and add to and change the gameplay formula. Why don't you start criticizing Metroid Prime too. Oh that's not enough? Well go ahead and tell us SSBB will suck. What's it matter if it isn't out yet? Obviously you in your glory and omniscience can tell us idiots right now how much a game sucks and whether we should like it or not.

i rather like wii online. it's got a little bit of everything, and you don't really need any more on a console.
i do like the news channel. it's very stripped down and its presentation reminds me of the days before internet became where i got all my news source. as in, you actually watch a news cast. except, in this case, it's better because you can skip over the news that don't interest you. would be better if you can stream the news items you want to watch instead of having to read them. that being said, i rarely use the news channel. it's just nice it's there.
weather channel--i don't really know why they need it. extraneous, but it's cool.
voting channel kicks ass. there is absolutely nothing in the world that even remotely resembles this. i am learning a lot about popular behavior and believes from it. like i learned today that more people in the states think they get better food in restaurants than from the food their moms cook? that says a lot about american society. i've always wondered exactly why so many americans eat take-out, now i know part of the reason. there are also a lot of other insights you can gain from the voting channel if you pay attention to the votes. i love it.
the VC channel needs no explanation.
the internet channel is perfect. although this is the one instance resolutions higher than 480 would be nice. but then my TV is a really old CRT which i don't even know if it's 480 so anyhow... and it barely matters since my wife and i use this feature to watch youtube on the TV, so the resolution is limited by the video anyway. we do this over dinner a lot so it's very nice. in fact we're thinking of canceling netflix because of this feature on the wii.
of course you can watch youtube on the other consoles, but at $250 the wii has provided fantastic value to us.
the Wii is an epidemic.
