i rather like wii online. it's got a little bit of everything, and you don't really need any more on a console.
i do like the news channel. it's very stripped down and its presentation reminds me of the days before internet became where i got all my news source. as in, you actually watch a news cast. except, in this case, it's better because you can skip over the news that don't interest you. would be better if you can stream the news items you want to watch instead of having to read them. that being said, i rarely use the news channel. it's just nice it's there.
weather channel--i don't really know why they need it. extraneous, but it's cool.
voting channel kicks ass. there is absolutely nothing in the world that even remotely resembles this. i am learning a lot about popular behavior and believes from it. like i learned today that more people in the states think they get better food in restaurants than from the food their moms cook? that says a lot about american society. i've always wondered exactly why so many americans eat take-out, now i know part of the reason. there are also a lot of other insights you can gain from the voting channel if you pay attention to the votes. i love it.
the VC channel needs no explanation.
the internet channel is perfect. although this is the one instance resolutions higher than 480 would be nice. but then my TV is a really old CRT which i don't even know if it's 480 so anyhow... and it barely matters since my wife and i use this feature to watch youtube on the TV, so the resolution is limited by the video anyway. we do this over dinner a lot so it's very nice. in fact we're thinking of canceling netflix because of this feature on the wii.
of course you can watch youtube on the other consoles, but at $250 the wii has provided fantastic value to us.
the Wii is an epidemic.
