God of War 2; although it's a different genre and generation to Killzone 2, so I hardly think the comparison's fair.

Lol. I knew that comment was coming. I keep for getting to put GeOW for Gears of War.

Yeah, sorry, I couldn't help myself. Everyone else had been so restrained.

:)

A classic :p

One of the problems i see in Gears2, is that when you shoot somebody you don't really feel like you are doing any damage. They just stand there and continue coming at you like nothing is happening. Now in the Killzone 2 videos, i feel that each time i pull the trigger i can feel the impact that makes on each and every person i hit.

This is one part where KZ2 pulls far ahead of Gears2, Gears2 just doesn't have the budget or resources to do this. Maybe Gears3 will have this with the next gen Unreal engine, but not now.

Does anyone else get this feeling from the games?

Gears 2 actually has stopping power implemented, whereas the first title had very little or none.

Watch the latest videos.  Then go and play the originals of both titles and decide which one has the best "chance" of being awesome

This wouldn't work and you know it. Killzone 2 might aswel just have been an entirely new ip.

Except for the same story setting, same gameplay evolutionised rather than revolutionised, same largely unproven developer (quality-wise), same allotted "Halo-killer" status by fanboys and same aesthetic feel.

Oh, and there is that name in the title.........

So basically you are saying that cod 4 with the killzone story wouldn't be killzone ? Afterall you are making an excuse by using gameplay which is alloted for every single fucking fps on the market. Right.

Futhermore everyone who has tried it has said it was awesome.

And i heard liberation was a really good title.

Also i doubt anyone even cares about killing halo anymore. The franchise has really sunk into the ground. People don't care anymore.

So basically we can sum it up to having the same name and story. Right. Thats why i said it might aswel just have been an entirely new ip. But ! with the same story it can't. Right. That is why i said that "it might aswell" ...

I ignored all the parts of your post that simply amounted to "na uh you're so wrong, halo is da sux" and skipped straight to the only testable part.

One of the most recent previews........

i still don't understand the hype over KZ2. i was under the impression that KZ1 was a bad game, and thats what everyone thought.

but ya, Gamespot.com is going to give GoW2 a 10/10 cause its on the 360 and has guns.

then, they'll give KZ2 a 8/10 because its on the PS3.

I believe that both will be almost equally good experiences. I'll be enjoying Gears 2 far more as it's not an FPS and i loved the original more than any FPS i've played so far (though i played it on the PC).

I'll probably end up getting both though :P

It'll go somthing like this for the 2 big shooters on both 360/ps3

Gears of war 2> Left 4 Dead>>>>>>> Resistance 2>>>Killzone 2

Gears of war is already a proven POWERHOUSE franchise (94% metacritic)

Left 4 Dead has valve working alongside turtle rock studios so you know its gonna be special

Resistance 1 86%... hhhmmmmmm I suspect that Resistance 2 will creep up to 90% on metacritic though but still not in gears of wars league

Killzone 2..... sure, it looks good, but then again so did killzone 1 back in the day and look at the score that got........ 71 %

Gears 2 and Left 4 Dead to win this round easily (Proven franchise/Proven developer)
