Hate is maybe a little too strong expression. I would call it disliking.

First a little background. I personally wasn't going to buy any console anymore, since i though i had seen it all, what games have to offer, but Wii (and DS) made me interested in gaming again.

As a former owner of Sonys electronics, i can say that their quality is pretty much like shit (this wasn't the situation in 80's or early 90's). So based on that, i don't buy anymore electronics from Sony.
The rootkit thing really pissed me off, and therefore i don't buy any Sonys software or entertainment.
Sony entering the consolebusiness wasn't good thing either, because they started to drive the industry more to a point where quality wasn't important (unlike what it was focused before), and started to shift focus outside gaming, but in the other hand Nintendo was acting like an asshole to its partners (3rd party publishers), so maybe learning a little lesson wasn't bad for Nintendo.
Price of the PS3 annoys me also, people want to play games with console, what works, is easy to use and is cheap.
Sonys BS about just about everything, delayed release of PS3 and its price, has propably pissed even Sony fans.

A little correction, i think i DO hate Sony.

Ei Kiinasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I think it's a mix of some Nintendo fanboys/fangirls being extremely poor winners and some having a superiority complex that causes a lot of the problems. Some appear to want everyone to be forced to play games within the Wii's specs and can't understand why some people choose to do otherwise.

I've seen some get downright hostile and rude (at least one mod included) when people complain about certain Nintendo games and yet nothing is said when Halo is literally bashed to death.  It's definitely annoying to see a double standard sometimes but it really helps to develop a thick skin and ignore it.

I don´t think its cool to take chaep shots at Sony, all the posts here have good arguments, for me hate is a really strong word to use against a big company, I hate nazis and terrorists (not just the islamic kind), I even hate my neighbours dog (I´m comming to get you Ginger, just wait you little mutt) but hate Sony, no. I think lots of people like me still tink Sony is a great company we just get caught up with things, Sony is not PS3, they made it and many of us are unhappy with the way it turned out, if you want a great multimedia gaming machine you might love the PS3 but most people here like me can´t work with that, I´m not going to replace all my multimedia devices with a PS3, I just want to play. The price and the way Sony sayed 5 million will buy it without games makes Sony an easy target too. I have many Sony products I really like (PSP anyone ???) that doesn´t mean I have to like everything they do. The PS3 TV adds made me mad too, it seemed Sony was saying: "We don´t need to show you a product, we don´t need to give you a reason to buy it, hell we don´t even need to talk about Blueray (one thing only the PS3 can do) you will give us your money no matter what kind of crappy spotts we show." but those where some decisions I don´t agree with and for now Sony is paying the price, they are still a great company, they just got a little of track. (IMO)

So here I go,

I love you Sony, sorry for putting some of your products down, its not you it´s me.... and some people who work for you, maybe we should just be friends ???

sigh...no I don't think any N-fan on this site has stated that we want everyone to play with Wii spec, BUT this is a sale forum and whatever you say PS3 sales numbers isn't that great for the moment.

If you think somebody is trolling a game, report the user that does it. Don't complain in a differnet thread.

Market research indicates Sony has the most powerful and respected brandname. It seems fans of rival systems don't like it that Sony dominated the home console market for over a decade, so many pretend to be upset about even minor issues.

Also many online media are run from the US, this may be a reason why the PS3 and Sony is getting more crap than Microsoft and the XBox 360 which is a US company. One thing I am sure about if Sony would have released a PS3 console as unreliable as the XBox 360 the internet would have exploded with outrage. Here in Europe it's not Sony that has a bad reputation overall, it's actually Microsoft which is considered to be an anti-competitive, monopolistic company often resorting to legally and morally dubious business practises. Neither Sony nor Microsoft are European companies.

The PS3 is a good quality sturdy console offering unparalled features and specifications, the console has a huge and impressive games line-up coming up.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

Arrogance... I think that's what hit most people. "You should get a second job." "The PS3 is cheap." "5 Million people would buy the PS3 even if it didn't have any games." and my favorite, "The next gen doesn't start until we say it does."

(I'm just paraphrasing...sorry if I got the quotes wrong)

I also think it rubbed a lot of Nintendo/Wii fans the wrong way when they announced that the dual shock would have motion controls.

The playstation brand is strong but it couldn't survive 600 USD, the Sony brand is also really strong but it have got some hits during the last years. At least in Sweden the root kit scandal were pretty large in media, even when Sweden didn't have those CD:s.

I think you are making things a little bit to much black and white when you write things like "pretend to be upset about even minor issues". I am upset over several thing sony has done with the PS3 launch in EU. The number one thing is that it almost cost 900 USD with tax in Sweden, as the number one brand a move like that could destroy the step gaiming have done during the PS2 era to become mainstream. The second thing is that they even launched a hardware that didn't have the same spec as the USA or Japanese version for an higher price. I could take that they removed the EE if they had lowered the price in EU, something the didn't do. You might call that two minor issues I call it screawing the consumer.

I might state that I don't like the price point of the Wii either, and I don't like the quality of the xbox360. So please don't drag up that. I just think you might think that the price of the PS3 gives you a lot of value for the money, but the sales numbers indicates that there is a lot of people that doesn't agree. So life is not black and

I agree, microsoft is crap, and they are getting a lot of bad press in the media in EU. Actualy I think Microsoft is getting more bad press then Sony in Sweden.

I actualy agree on the last part about the PS3, I just think the value for those features is lost to the avarage consumer because of the high price.  I personally doesn't seen the value to pay 5990 SEK for a consol without any games. It is almost the same as I spent during the last generation, and I do call myself a gamer.

I don't hate Sony-couldn't care about them less-but I do disapprove with their actions and statements prior to the PS3 launch. But then again, they're a multi-national corporation. What did people expect? If the situation permits it, Microsoft and Nintendo would also do the same thing Sony did. However, people are merely picking on the PS3 right now because of its poor sales. I'm kind of annoyed about the PS3 fanboys' reaction to it, though.
