Ps3 in December 2008 sells worldwide 6 million consoles to X360 1 million consoles for December 2008 = 5 million gain to the Ps3 puts Ps3 in front of the X360.

Gap to November should fall to 4.5 million lead to X360 over Ps3.

4.5 million - 5 million = 0.5 million lead to Ps3 over X360 by Xmas 2008.

Christmas 2009 is about 65 weeks away.  5,460,000/65 = 84k per week.

Also, I never finished answering Scottie.  About removing the best 3 weeks for 360 for the past 13 weeks:

It would remove about 450k from both because the 360's best weeks were even with the PS3 (for significance), so ~1.8 million (P) - ~1.32 million (X) = ~530k; 530k/10 weeks = 53k per week.

I didn't include it because I didn't think it wass significant.  BTW I don't want to refigure the math, but if you take out the best 3 of both it (not sure) ~35k per week.

You realise to manage that it has to sell 5.46 million consoles more than the X360 in the next 4.5 months.... or an average of 273,000 more per week.

So, let me get this straight.  In December 08, you think:

PS3 will sell 6 million.

Xbox 360 will sell 1 million.'

Nice math, but as others have said, the peak is normally the third year, and even with a 360 price drop in July, NPD showed no change.

It may or may not happen in 2.75 years, but there's too many variables.
