Here in the United States, how much you pay for tuition is contingent on a couple of important things. First, whether or not you go to a public university. Public costs about 1/5th of what private costs here in Texas.

Next is if you're a minority. Regardless of what you do in high school, if you're a minority, you pay MUCH much less than a say... a middle class white guy who did really well in high school. (cough)

There are so many scholarships for minorities and almost none out there for white people, it seems almost a disadvantage to be white in the university system, not that I'm bitter or anything, and that's not to say that a lot of the minorities don't deserve it.

Sorry for the rant. It's late and this subject gets me frustrated.

^ Funny you should say that, I really don't mind it and in fact no, not that many people from the minority group actually get the scholarships. The preferential treatment they get has also shown to bite them in the ass. They end up going to a school they were not qualified for, taking out loans and everything, then they drop out and they have already wasted the money so they are in an even deeper hole. There was a really good article on this in Newsweek several months ago.

Most people in belgium get scholarships, I'm not poor enough to get one. But it's still pretty cheap compaired to United States.

i go to York University in Toronto, Ontario I pay $5500 for the year. Plus books it comes out to $7000 total.
