The point is pretty much though 1:35. Nintendo makes the game with gameplay. For the most part, the rest is fluf. There doesn't need to be much of a story to Mario or Zelda. They are games built on being fun.
If characters developed...
Mario and Peach would be in a failing relationship. They'd have a son.
Link would realize talking f*cking rocks, propose to Zelda be king of Hyrule, and kick ass.
Samus gets hooked up with Master Chief. We'd have the most badass couple in history of the universe, they'd have 1 child, and that child would end up saving the Universe. Every day.
If they evolved? Like Pokemon?

i doubt they would.......most of their games are aimed at children

You'rea couple years late. Samus had extensive dialogue in Fusion. Then people whined.
