For now at least, The PS3 is only 18 months old ( which is when PS2 took off), and its still a 400$ 500$ System. When PS3 hits sub 299 its a wrap imo

I guess anything is possible, but PS3 will never be as dominant as the PS2, that I am sure of.  When it drops sub $299.00 your right it will sell very well but WII and 360 will be sub $200.00 at that time

 



PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

You cant really beleive that processor power doubles every two years (Moores Law) so 4 years from know something will be at least 4 times more powerful.  The PS3 and the 360 graphics wise are a dead heat give MS 4-5 years and they will make the Ps3 look like a WII

 

In a couple years time when the PS3 and maybe the Xbox 360 (seems like the 360 might already be at it's max) will be at its max with there graphics, it'll already look so realistic that the next generation won't seem that much different (graphics wise). Sony and MS won't really be able to say "hey look at are video game system and how much better the graphic are from last generation" because it won't be that much different compared to how different it was with the PS2 and PS3. So they'll likely be looking for something innovative and something we've not seen before, instead of focusing on improving the graphics.

 

I hope so that would be wise of them cause I am not buying a system over $400.00.  But we say that every generation and every generation they come out with a new system with graphics that look better.

It really depends on what Sony does to keep the PS3 selling.

If a PS3 w/ bluray is $199 in 2012 and a Bluray player is still around the price of a PS3 (like $150) then it will probably see steady sales until players drop to $100-125 less.

PS3 price = 400$ 500$

So PS3 price = Basically double.
PS3 sales=under Half of Wii sales. Pretty good IMO

What I mean is PS3 @ 250 and Wii @ 250 = PS3 sales >>>>>>>> Wii sales, Even if Wii is like 150 $ at this point in time, for what you get in PS3 its a far better deal

Well I'm not saying that there not going to improve on the graphics for the next generation it's just that there not going to make such a big deal with the graphics like they did with this generation. I read an artical about some people that made a pair of glasses that can be used for virtual reality it shoots a beam into your eye and it displays the image there, that'll seam pretty cool if Sony or MS got into that because they can't keep making consoles there soon going to realize that portable is the way to go.

When PS3 is $250.00 WII will have price dropped so lets use your second set of numbers, PS3 will still be basically be double using your math above so what has changed?  Same as it is know so sales are the same?

PS3 is not a PS2 and wont sell like one.  It may come on gangbusters later but the PS2 was never in third!

I agree I thinked they learned from Nintendo and the WII you cant just do graphics something innovative is as if not more important.  I do think they will make a graphics jump but think there will be some new interface gizmo, what it is I cant say

So you're only excuse (the excuse many PS3 fans have used) is "wait for $399"? The PS3 won't be $399 for a while...unless Sony wants to lose a lot of money or gimp the PS3 to make it affordable to produce and sell,

Just for the record they Gimped the PS3 to get it to $400.00 they took out the emotion engine so PS2 backwacks compatability is shot.  Yes they will try to do it through software but Xbox dosent even have all games BC the PS2 libarary is way bigger.

What im saying is Wii is already at Mass Market Price, numbers should be higher, now when PS3 gets this chance PS3 sales will greatly Increase. I mean if you had Wii at 400$ and PS3 at 400$ what would sell better? PS3 obviously because of its IMO better games lineup and Better deal overall
