Could the PS3 take the place of PS4 Next Gen?

And it won't ever get a library like the PS2's because...

1. The Wii's success WILL make third parties jump ship.
2. 360 keeps getting multiplat games with the PS3.

The PS3 isn't going to last like the PS2. Sony need to focus on next gen and see if they can make a decent profit or else they're screwed a lot more.

 

Actually I see it out lasting PS2, due to SONY wanting to make a decent profit which they will, and Firmware updates to keep it fresh.

 

They cant do it, MS will launch another console and make the PS3 look like the PS3 makes the WII look now.  Heck even the WII will launch another console.  They have 5-7 years max

 

PS2 still does really well, whats to say PS3 wont be like PS2 today, but when PS4 launches?

 

Because the PS3 won't be as dominant as the PS2?

 

For now at least, The PS3 is only 18 months old ( which is when PS2 took off), and its still a 400$ 500$ System. When PS3 hits sub 299 its a wrap imo

 

So you're only excuse (the excuse many PS3 fans have used) is "wait for $399"? The PS3 won't be $399 for a while...unless Sony wants to lose a lot of money or gimp the PS3 to make it affordable to produce and sell,

Just for the record they Gimped the PS3 to get it to $400.00 they took out the emotion engine so PS2 backwacks compatability is shot.  Yes they will try to do it through software but Xbox dosent even have all games BC the PS2 libarary is way bigger.
