The PS4 will be much more powerful than the Ps3. The difference however will be that it wont cost as much to make. Sony made the good long term business decision and made the console they wanted to extend the life of the system. The Ps4 will be much like the PS3 in terms of whats inside. BD will be there for sure but will be much faster, probably 4-8x drive. That will eliminate any excuse about a required HDD install for access speed. SSD drives will be cheaper and may see there way in, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a 500GB or 1TB drive since they are very cheap now. Ram will be increased to 1GB all XDR, maybe 2GB split with XDR and DDR4. The CEll will make a return but will be at a faster clock with more SPUs and will probably be accompanied by a second. I would say 18 SPUs at least. They may even just run all CELL like they planned for the PS3 now that everyone has a handle on programming for it.HDMI will be version 1.5 as 1.4 is already here and will support a higher resolution than 1080P since we will probably see a new resolution standard in the next 10 years. The best part about all the parts used, is they already spent the money on R&D and have driven the costs down.

It was never a competition about number of consoles owned, I was just showing that I've never followed a single manufacturer, so not sure how you could accuse me of being one sided.

Fact is that Sony have deserved being based this generation, I just call it as I see it. Despite all that I've bought a PS3 and don't own a 360, so not sure which one of the "one" sides I'm meant to be on.

As for being uncalled for, grow a pair, it was a joke, although the truth is often best said in jest.

back to the OP (as old as it is), i hope they do more than nintendo in terms of a hardware bump.

but, with the coming of onlive (or whatever it's called) the next gen hardware front might be very different from what it is today. i, personally, like my disks.

The SNES and Dreamcast had superb launch titles. Simple and yet so clean.

Good (old) thread. I consider myself a gamer, too. A gamer who plays all games. I must admit, tho I love my PS3 and really respect SONY. Does this make me a fanboy... no. Just like u, more loyal to SONY.

Like yourself, I too would love a supreme PS4, but it is not practical. See, eye-candy is reaching a stalemate, not quite there yet, but almost. Graphics will be a much less of a need next gen, so SONY should really focus on price, quality, ease of developing SW, memory and HW space. PS4 should really be a suped up PS3 with a better grapics card, revamped Cell, etc, etc.

I really what them to re-use the SW tools and have the same developing as the PS3, so it will be very familiar and even easier for developers with PS4. This is the direction I think they will go. We can already assume that Nintendo and M$ will do the same, WiiHD (Wii 1.5), 720 (540). No?

Honestly Sony was humbled this gen but CGI I have a question. Seeing as this is your first post and all, Whats your view on the situation now? Do you think Sony Should go the Powerhouse route again? Or Stick with what worked with the PS1 and PS2? (Entry level price, not the most powerful machine but can still go the distance against rival machines)
