Many people throw the term "system seller" around on the internet, but what games truly are the system sellers of each system?
I composed a list of current system sellers, as well as future ones. My criterium is that at least 500.000 people need to buy the console for game X to be a system seller. This is a bit of a guess with most games though.
The ones in black are the current system sellers, the future ones are in red.
Wii
Wii Sports
Zelda Twilight Princess
Mario & Sonic at the Olympics
Super Mario Galaxy
Wii Fit
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Mario Kart Wii
Animal Crossing City Folk (Animal Crossing on the Cube and especially DS has sold a tremendous amount of copies. I think a lot of those people would love to continue to cross their animals on the Wii)
Wii Music (Obvious choice, anything with Wii on it, especially with something as universal as music, will sell bucketloads of units)
Next Wii Zelda (Twilight Princess wasn't exclusive to the Wii, but the next Zelda will be, and will get any Zelda fan who doesn't have a Wii yet buy one)
360
Gears of War
Halo 3
Grand Theft Auto 4
Call of Duty 4
Assassin's Creed
Gears of War 2 (The game looks spectacular and will draw lots of gamers (no, not only Gears fans) to the 360.
Fable 2 (The first one disappointed, but Fable 2 looks very promising and probably interests a lot of people)
Resident Evil 5 (Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games ever, a large portion of those who really enjoyed that game and doesn't have a HD console yet will probably get one for Resident Evil 5)
Final Fantasy XIII (Forgot about this one, duh)
PS3
Metal Gear Solid 4
Grand Theft Auto 4
Call of Duty 4
Assassin's Creed
Uncharted
Gran Turismo 5 (One of the biggest franchises of the last generation, this one is obvious)
Killzone 2 (This one is a bit uncertain. Killzone 1 was mediocre, but Killzone 2 looks so intense and spectacular, even if the game sucks, a lot of people will be tricked into buying a PS3 for this game)
Resident Evil 5 (Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games ever, a large portion of those who really enjoyed that game and doesn't have a HD console yet will probably get one for Resident Evil 5)
God of War 3 (A next-gen sequel of a critically acclaimed and populair franchise is bound to bring new people in)
Final Fantasy XIII (Forgot about this one, duh)
So, what do you think?
