Forums - Sales - nintendomination to end come september

The_vagabond7 said:
yeah yeah yeah, wii domination ends beginning a few months in the future, always and perpetually a few months in the future. Come January it will still be just a few months into the future.

Its just another one to add to the list:

  • nuclear fusion as a practical power source - always 50 years away
  • flying cars - always 30 years away
  • virtual reality - always 10 years away
  • human like AI - always 5 years away
  • Linux taking over the desktop - always 1 year away
  • Wii sales coming to a sudden end - always 3 months away

The funny/frustrating thing about discussing any of these yet to occur events with someone who is convinced they will happen in said time period is that they are never discouraged by the fact that they and/or others have made the same prediction and been wrong before. They have a list of reasons why they think it will happen and are blind to anything that might prevent it.

Nintendomination will not end, but will be weaker until late September arrives.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

- Paperless age is always just around the corner.

And

- Wireless age.

I'm still waiting for those two much more than any of those other things (though flying cars and virtual reality would be cool). Nothing makes me more mad than professors that still require printouts of papers... or even worse, printouts of computer science code. Honestly? I have to printout my Java code and hand it in? Holy jeez.

That and until electricity is wireless, I won't be satisfied.

Nintendo domination? When did Nintendo ever dominate anyhing?

Looked at the game industry lately?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Ummm... no. Just because we haven't heard of big games coming doesn't mean that there aren't any that are just kept under wraps. It seems extremely unlikely that the Wii would suddenly experience a drop in software sales. Generally, the most popular platform has the highest amount of software sales. It's economics.

These games are going to sell millions of copies and won almost all of the midyear Game Conference awards for best games from major gaming sites: Gears of War 2, Fallout 3, Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, Final Fantasy XIII, Prince of Persia, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, Fable 2, InFamous.

What is a third characteristic that all of these destined to sell multi-millions of copies and to win multiple awards including Game of The Year titles have in common?

Not one of them is going to be on the Wii.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

It seems that your wishes have been heard.

Now the world is weird  and people take Prozac  to make it normal.

Is marijuana the best medicine?

I think you need to take of those fanboyglasses and you will se that in reality Nintendo has done jackshit since they sold ordinary playing cards (you know the ones used to play poker amongst other things).

"They buy the Wii to play Wii games."

And what do we know about the quality of Wii games?

Wii Sports Metacritic score = 76, Wii Fit Metacritic score = 81. Those numbers pretty much sum it up.
