We have to take into account that Europe and especially the EU is rising significantly financially while the US is in serious decline in the past few years ( athough the video game market is generating more revenue ).

If you're talking to me, you should check my games collection and posting history before calling me a fanboy. And I only used the UK to try and disprove the population point.

I won't say any more on the subject, though, as it is severely off-topic. And if you wish to continue this, take it to PM.

In terms of market value there was a report revealing the EU to be a bigger games market already in terms of total value compared to the United States (source: Nielsen). Of course the EU does not include many European countries, but does include the most wealthy ones except for smaller ones like Switzerland, Norway and Iceland.

That's related to the currency market fluctuations, mostly. Anyways in a few years when the eastern block improves it's status Europe will sweep away the States in the videogame market. Operating costs should still be higher on Europe tho...

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

@Oyvoyvoyv: Actually, it's stupid to start counting out former eastern-block countries. Quite a few have joined the EU and are experiencing strong financial growth. Especially after their limitations have been removed.
Not only EU have a high number of wealthy people, higher population than North-America, but it also offers bigger potential for growth.
EU in general are experiencing same problems as Japan, which is aging population and this is one of the key points what caused Wii being what it is. Now, if Nintendo manages to tap into the older population, you'll see how much bigger the EU market can be (and this requires more localisation and more delays to be able to serve this public better).

@X360Rules: UK= England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. That makes four countries.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Probably because of localization, my own mood aside the situation with developers and Europe is daunting: I would figure the added time and cost of localizing and observing the laws of each country in EU that the OP's statement applies to is almost like working with Wii Friend codes.

I'd much rather a standard language be appreicated revolving outside of the cultural eco-sphere. Technichally this is supposed to be English for all the capitalist countries as English is the language of business, however small business don't normally apply this, and small businesses owners are the ones who make that kind of change.

However any language standard as long as it's simple, would be great, I was planning on moving back to EU - I was kind of just waiting to see how much the Euro would deflate.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

That is debatable.... England and Wales are as one at least, while Scotland and N.I. are complicated.

And @X360rules.... with you attitude I don't think you will last long on this forum.

@OP... the total figure for European Software sales far exceeds the VGC total... if you look at weekly figures (don't use the recent week due to Madden) American Software was 3,530,087 for w/e 9th.... while European software was 2,288,695 Now consider the weekly totals for "others" will still be missing a lot of software (All consoles have 50 or less titles tracked per week) that weekly total is probably close up to 3.5 million.

Then take your 13% off to make Europe only and it should be around 3 million per week..... that ratio of 3.5:3.0 is probably close to the total sales ratios, which means if Americas total SW is 400 million, European SW should certainly be over 300 million IMO.

I mean think how many DS, PSP and X360 titles ioi has no European data for. (and to  lesser extent Wii and PS3)
